The rank and file Russian soldier was not ready for this war. For God sake many of the families have relatives in Ukraine. An army with low morale presents a terrible liability no matter what quality equipment they possess. From reports the common soldier in the Russian ranks is either extremely distressed or at the most very unmotivated. The elite units are the only ones that are worth anything in this conflict and they have been beaten in several key engagements. The Ukrainians are fired up and unified. They deserve everything we can give them.

Russia did not have a problem finding buyers of its oil on the market whether we buy it or someone else. Its also not hard for the US to switch suppliers and Russia of course knows that (but it does take time). Hard sanctions are coming and the Russian market will be shrinking. It is a bit like squeezing a balloon and the oil will find another home (but likely at less profit margin). Its weak leverage on the US and short term. Thats not much of a catalyst for war.

I am referring to Keystone. I suspect Germany may be rethinking about shutting down their nukes. That pipeline they built with Russia is likely going to be idle for some time to come.

Cant say I like any of the last few presidents. Cashman normally presidents step in the turds their predecessors left on the doorstep. This time is no different. NATO's existence and US involvement was questioned by the last administration. That sends a clear green light to an aggressor to push forward on that weakness. That last old fool did much more to invite this aggression. Inflation is the result of supply chain issues due to the global pandemic. Its also greatly exacerbated by monetary policy since 2008. These kind of things don't magically appear in a year because of who sits in the Oval Office. This is only one person responsible for this and thats Putin. He is in desperate straights at home with his own country's economic and pandemic woes. He is taking a huge gamble this is going to achieve his goal of expanding Russian power and his survival. It could very well turn into his own catastrophe creating even more destabilization in Europe and abroad.
