Strip Clubs and Big Screens

Just curious here if you have a quick call and response time: does anyone ever look at the TV that's on in the clubs? Does it matter at all what's on there? I'll admit, I like the ESPN on in front of the urinals but you're only there for a few seconds. As far as the main room, do you ever get sidetracked from the ladies and catch a moment in the game or whatever's on? Wondering why so many are putting so much money into big screens now.

With the prices of big screen televisions dropping all the time, this is a cheap way to make a club look like they have a lot of money invested in appearance. Also with club owners it is monkey see monkey do.

Actually, I've gone several times just for TV. I don't have cable at home (long story). During March Mardness about ten years ago I found that St. James was the least occupied place carrying games. It was a Saturday night and the strippers were looking for guys looking at them. I was watching a team that rarely appeared in the tournament. I've also gone a couple of times for other sporting events. One night at St. James I was watching one event when a looker came up to the table. Immediately, I told her I was the event and wouldn't be interested in company/LD's. She stayed for a half hour, either feigning interest or being bored before she finally got up and left-with her eyes glazed over.

"does anyone ever look at the TV that's on in the clubs? Does it matter at all what's on there?" Yea, sometimes it's porn...most of the time it's some kind of sporting event. When the action in a club is kind of dull, having a TV around doesn't hurt. I've never been one to go to any club (strip or otherwise) just to watch the TV there though.

I have no objection to the big screens. If there is a dancer who does not appeal to you, a look at the sporting event being televised is a nice way to pass the time. Better than staring into space until she finishes.

I basically agree with snowtime except the only sporting event that interests me is the one I do in the back room. LOL...

"the strippers were looking for guys looking at them" LOL Dudester. I've been to clubs in Vancouver when the Canucks are in or making a run for the NHL playoffs and felt downright sorry for the dancers. They're trying to put on a show and they're being ignored by almost every guy in the place. Some clubs will just reschedule the sets to take place during the breaks between periods.

The NBA finals were on when I went to a club this year. The girls lost money that night.

I went on one of my Kansas stripclub road trips one night that the Kansas Jayhawks were playing in the Final Four, which was a big mistake. Few dancers were there (they might have been the smart ones, considering this was one of the Lawrence clubs), and everyone was watching the game, including myself. In retrospect, it was bizarre that I would be oblivious to the fact that Kansas was in the Final Four that year. I also thought it was bizarre they would go to the strip club to watch the game, as opposed to a regular bar. However, in general, I don't object in general to having the TV's there. It's generally either sports (counting the World Series of Poker as a sport, even though it isn't) or porn, although I went to one club once and they were showing TV Land, of all channels. On the other hand, I went to a different club once which was showing Fox News, which is the biggest waste of time ever.

Waiting for a club to use the TV's to show hard core porn of each dancers VIP offering. Well, some laws will have to change before we can get to that point. But dancers could have videos that could be shown on club TV. The Coliseum in Detroit has screens all over the place, some with news, most with sports. Great stuff.

Yea, strip clubs all over Canada get real quiet during hockey nights, especially when the local team is playing. Good thing that I could care less about hockey... :)

I don't even watch TV at home, so I'm not likely to watch it at a strip club! O.

Dont mind them being on, its an easy way to avoid being bothered by an unappealing dance. If your distracted they dont stay long. In one of my favorite clubs they have the food network on from time to time, thats a little strange.

Some friends and myself were in The Alley Cat in Miami some years ago. It was when Ultimate Fighting just came on TV, back when they really had no rules. It was on in the "Cat" and all the customers were watching that rather then the dancers. It was quickly turned off then back on when a mini revolt was about to start. Another time, there was an Oscar Delahoya fight on TV and everyone, including the dancers, were huddled around a TV watching. I do not mind them on, but the once that just show porn, well those are a waste to me.

I kind of like it when, first, there's a big game I'm interested in going on on the television, and, second, a girl is willing to both let me watch the game (HELLO! like a girl has to be TOLD TO LET THE CUSTOMER DO WHAT HE WANTS!) and also is paying attention to me. For instance, she sits in my lap, fondles Mr. Happy a bit, doesn't demand that I pay attention to her as though there's "something wrong" with me if I don't make small talk, and basically cuddles up next to me to improve my game-watching experience. It actually stuns me, that most strippers are stupid about NOT doing the above. The game is on, and down they descend on you, "Hi, hi, hello, look at me, what are you doing? Oh you're watching the game? Games are stupid you should look at me me me. Hey, look, titties, hey, why are you so lame?" Why do we continually have to EXPLAIN to strippers, that their JOB is to ENTERTAIN US AND NOT VICE VERSA?

Nice. I actually went to one the other day because I had free time before meeting people and it was happy hour (don't remember the game so no idea why it was on so early) but was actually almost lectured by a dancer I was not remotely interested in about me watching the game. I avoided eye contact as she approached from across the room, sits down on my lap and makes small talk. I wouldn't have been interested in her anyway, but let her know I was just there for a little to drink cheap and watch the game while I passed some time and she goes into why guys should go there just to spend money. Five minutes later I went up to use the bathroom...only way I got her off me (seeing as how I still would have gotten a dance if I saw someone I really liked and didn't want to be viewed as taken).

Might have to ammend my earlier comment since I watched the entire 4th quarter of the Falcons/Vikings game last night at Platinum Plus in Columbia. Since I am from Atlanta and this was a game that got the Falcons in the playoffs I had some interest in it. Generally speaking I go to a strip club to look at and get dances from strippers not to watch TV. On most visits to a club with big screens I probably could not tell you what was playing on the TV while I was at the club.

Unfortunately here in Vancouver especially during early evening or shift change the only entertainment is on the big screen. Sometimes it takes 15 - 30 minutes between sets on stage so I schedule my visits when there is a game on. Now if the floor dancers were not charging $50 a lap dance who would watch tv. I would be getting lap dances instead of watching football or whatever else is on.

snowtime: I thought that you were in the back room and had fallen in love. Then I find out that you were really sitting in the front row watching the Falcons. You had better recant! LOL...
  • I'm torn. I don't go to a strip club to watch sports; if I want to watch sports, I'll go to, like, Hooters because it's a hell of a lot cheaper. Then again, if I happen to be at a SC and the game's good, yeah I'll watch. Hollywood Show Club in East St. Louis, Ill. has about a dozen screens showing porn. I find them a distraction from what's in front of me (and tactile!). Moreover, I haven't watched that much porn, and I have to admit, a lot of those videos are gross. Then again, I went to Schiek's in downtown Minneapolis, and the only TV's there were at the bar. It was kind of dead there, so I was kind of looking for some stimulation, but I was thinking to myself, "How in the hell can't there be TV's here?" So again, I'm torn.

Uscue lists the classic dancer-not-getting-the-hint phenomenon. Ladies, "how not to be THAT dancer" includes, NOT doing the following: "Nice. I actually went to one the other day because I had free time before meeting people and it was happy hour (don't remember the game so no idea why it was on so early) but was actually almost lectured by a dancer I was not remotely interested in about me watching the game. Monday night foot ball: Last year my favorite club served free Brats during the game. It was catered by some Chinese restaurant and it was gross. This year they changed to the Lizard Thicket and they served hot wings that were actually very good. And it was FREE.

If I'm bored with the entertainment or lack thereof in a club, I might be caught watching the big screen. During sporting events with my alma matta playing, I sometimes do watch. Usually if I'm that interested in a game, I won't bother going out to a strip club unless I know they'll have it playing. Usually if I visit strip clubs, I'm not that interested in what's on the tv. At the Penthouse Key Club in Wellford, SC, I will watch the tv's they have all around the club when they do their hourly two no entertainment songs especially if they have music videos playing in tune with the music blasting. I actually like watching those videos. They don't have any dancers dancing for two songs every hour so that is kind of lame.
