Great question! When it comes to stripper or sex worker movies, some of my favorites are Hustlers for its empowering storyline and Magic Mike for the pure entertainment value and insight into the industry. Both films show a different side of the profession, with engaging characters and stories.

I really liked that flick too.
Also came here to mention "Leaving Las Vegas", Elizabeth Shue was hot in her prime.

Wow, I hadn't thought about "Leaving Las Vegas" in a long time, but I do remember that being a good film...
Did Marisa Tomei once have a role where she played a stripper???

There are so many great films that explore the world of strippers and sex workers, each bringing a unique perspective. Hustlers (2019) does a great job showcasing the power dynamics and survival instincts of women in the industry, while Magic Mike (2012) gives a more playful yet surprisingly emotional look at male stripping. Belle de Jour (1967) is a classic for its psychological depth, and The Girlfriend Experience (2009) offers a more intimate, almost documentary-like approach to escorting.
For those who enjoy discussions about the portrayal of sex work in media and real-life experiences, sexobello.com has some interesting conversations around these themes. Always great to hear different takes on how these stories are told!

^ Ah, thanks. I guess I need to add that film to my watch list, and I've never seen Hustlers either, so clearly I have some research to do on this topic... :)

Not really stripper movie, but Marisa Tomei portrayed the kind of milf stripper I love:

Hard to believe Marisa also played Aunt May in Spiderman. Sorta like Sally Fields playing Forrest Gump's mother.

Here’s a pair of oldies “Sweet Charity” starring Shirley MaClaine, and Klute starring Jane Fonda.

Maya Rudolph as the hooker "Rita" in Ideocracy, a comedy which sadly turned out to be a documentary on the future of America.

Shadowcat beat me to it.
Dancing at The Blue Iguana is by far the most accurate and best strip club movie.
It’s my favorite movie.

Some good ones mentioned. Showgirls with Elizabeth Berkley was decent.

Although the sex and nudity is disappointing, Closer (2004) is a legitimate good film and my former stripper FWB really identified with Natalie Portman's Alice character

“Blue Lagoon” - absolutely.
“Showgirls” was seriously bashed that now has cult status. I too liked it.
Take a try on “Looking For Mr Goodbar” - one of my favorites of all time.

“”American Gigolo” is also good, shows a different side (1980)

Though not a stripper movie per se. there’s a pivotal scene in “30 Minutes or Less” that takes place in a strip club. Much of the movie was filmed in Grand Rapids, Michigan and they auditioned actual Michigan dancers for the background cast and I knew a dancer who got a non speaking part.

Not a movie but the book Stripper Lessons is also by John O’Brien. He is the author of the book for Leaving Las Vegas. Recommended read.
