Accused of being a cop in a SC?

It must just be the way I look, but I’ve been accused of being a cop several times over my 20+ years of strip clubbing. Granted, when I was in my 20’s my appearance was very clean cut, so I could almost understand that. Usually it was just a passing question and drinking an alcoholic beverage had always put everyone’s mind at ease. However this past weekend the same thing happened. Pushing 50 and 280 lbs, I was a bit shocked to be asked by a dancer repeatedly if I was a cop only to finish our dance and immediately be asked by security to leave on my way back to the bar with no reason. “My manager didn’t tell me why but he has asked that you leave.” I wasn’t out of line with the dancer or anything. So I just left and went to a different club. No problems at the second stop and the first was not my regular club anyway. I’ll never give that first club another dollar, wasn’t that great anyway. Back to the point, the whole thing was just very weird and the first time I had been asked to leave. Anyway, is it just me or is this more common than I think it is?

It's happened to me occasionally. They think I must be a plain clothes officer. I suspect there are certain behaviors you do which make them think you're a cop, but I have no idea what they are. I suspect they are worried about being found with illegal substances and perhaps it fuels paranoia.

Did you try saying “hey wildebeest, Imma frickin’ lion, not a frickin’ cop!” and follow that up with a hearty “ROAR!!!”?

This rick has never been asked whether he was a cop, but if he was that would be the response. ROAR!!!

Dancer: I can tell what you do for a job just by looking at you. Me: So, tell me. Dancer: You're either a cop or a firefighter. Me: Why do you say that? Dancer: All you cops and firefighters have that same cheesy 1970s mustache. I am now clean shaven.

I have the same problem as the OP. In my 20s and 30s, I preferred a close-cut top and whitewalls, and I care about my health so I exercise and stay in shape. Florida is just too fucking hot for a beard or mustache. As a result of all this, I was frequently asked if I am a cop. Sometimes I wonder if that negatively impacted my strip-clubbing experiences. It happens less now, mostly in places where I'm not so much of a regular. I have never been asked to leave by an anxious manager, though.

Age has his privileges. My club friends and I are never mistaken for other than what we are - old PLs with time and money to spend...

I'm asked if I am from time to time, maybe a few times a year. Sometimes I chalk it up to the girl just being paranoid, either completely random paranoia or induced by some sort of rumors about investigation or recent brushes with the law. It happened a few months back when I randomly stopped into Cheetah Hallendale after they had a raid, the two girls I talked to were certain I was a cop. It wasn't until I read about it on here that I realized the correlation.

I've never been asked to leave as a result though, that seems rather extreme and probably short sighted on the part of the club. If you were a cop, that sort of behavior seems to like it would do nothing but justify further investigation into the club.

Never happened to me. There have been times where either I thought another pl was a cop or the dancers thought another pl was a cop and told me about it. Now that you mention it, there is a certain look that says “cop”.

I've gotten it a couple of times, probably because I'm relatively clean cut and am always drinking water. Last time a dancer asked if I was a cop I told her no and then exactly what I wanted to do to her in the back. That convinced her.

A stripper once told me I looked like I was in the mafia. In strip clubs, people cross paths when they otherwise rarely would. They don't know what to make of each other. There are strip clubs that are sketchy enough that non-sketchy people would only be in there once. People in such a club would likely see just being non-sketchy as cop-like.

That's happened to me a few times in the past. The kicker is that I actually was a cop. But I never mentioned it or advertised it. I guess I just had that "look". I was never asked to leave. The worst that happened to me once, was once a dancer was convinced I was a cop, word spread and I couldn't get a dancer to approach me for a dance to save my life.

This happened to me a couple of times. Mostly when I was in my '60s.

Usually. Guys are mistaken for cops if theyre cheap and ask the dancer too many questions or solicit them indirectly. Sometimes its the look and that isnt a compliment. Ots one of the worst things to be called in club culture

Hasn’t happened in years to old now. Once by the owner of shooters alley in Atlanta and once by a dancer at Fantasia in Huntsville Alabama

If you look like a normal person and are new to a dancer, this question gets asked a lot. Partly due to dancer projection and another reason is to make small chat. Strippers always talk about random shit that comes to their mind. The worst is when they start digging into what you do for a living or your hobbies or your whole background info such as where you were raised. It’s numbing to meet a new dancer introducing herself as a new prospect. In the times I want to shut the inquisition down I’ll be happy to give off I’m a cop vibe to get them to go away.

Never had it happen in a strip club, but when I was younger it happened often enough when riding the subway, several times women would ask me to sit next to them thinking I looked like a cop.

I would get asked this all the time until I started getting some salt and pepper in my hair, now I guess I just look too old to be a cop!

Almost every time I visited the old flashers in Atlanta at least one dancer would check me for a wire in a transparent "sexy touch" move. One even asked me to show my socks. No other place have I been mistaken for a cop

I’ve gotten this several times along the way and perhaps more often a few years back. I travel a lot so never known to the girls. I always interpret this question as a good thing. I think they’re checking boxes in their head about the fun we can have so long as xyz circumstances aren’t in play.
