I recently created an Instagram account using a proton.me address, using it to follow a few HK chicas I had seen on YouTube. Not long after, my account was suspended for "inauthentic behavior". The remediation for this is they want me upload pictures of my face, which I am totally opposed to - giving a face shot to Meta is giving them access to your entire identity.
So, my question is, does anyone know of a way to anonymous browse public instagram pages? Or an alternate methodology for creating an account that won't require a face shot?
Bizarre, that your Instagram account got blacklisted or de-authorized or whatever you call it. I'm just going to call it de-authorized, I know that's the wrong term but you know what I mean.
Anyway. So, personally, I haven't encountered this. I have an Instagram account that I use for my "normal" or "civilian" life (a.k.a. no strip-club or monger activity), with which I follow a lot of visual artists that I like. I have made literally zero posts of my own on it. Furthermore, I have deliberately gone into the Instagram settings and disconnected my Facebook/Meta membership from that Instagram account so, even though I do have a Facebook membership related to the same email address, nevertheless the Facebook and Instagram never connect to one another. And yet I've never had any sort of de-authorization like you had.
I relate all this just to suggest, that one reason the de-authorization may have happened to you, is that you have monger-style activity on it. You're following scantily clad chicas who may have triggered other Instagram algorithm concerns. So, the watercolorists and figure-drawing experts who post hand-drawn graphite works that depict someone's kneecap whom I follow, all are on a lower security level for Instagram's de-authorize-o-bot, than your chicas.
^ @BookGuy, I think the difference might be that even with your minimal footprint and the connection with your FB account (even though it's now off), Meta knows who you are.
In contrast, I'm using a VPN and a proton address so and it's algorithms can't pin my real identity, which is why I got flagged as "inauthentic".
They block people for random reasons, and there is nothing you can do. This is what AI looks like in practice, basically just get used to it. Your options are to browse through a 3rd party tool, make a backup profile (the girls often do this), or just make a new profile from time to time.

Yes, the proton email is the reason, and the VPN is probably flagged too. I tried to get an IG account using exactly the same thing and had the same issue. No way I'm letting IG know who I am.
Meta treats anything that isn't from where normal users come from as suspicious, they even view home internet IP's as more suspect than mobile networks. Any sort of VPN will get you flagged for sure. That is 1000x more likely to be the issue than your proton email.
This isn’t that uncommon. IG had a spree of suspending accounts the second they were created. It is an AI suspending the account due to whatever it picks up in its algorithm. There are Reddit threads all about this.

Seems like more to the story?
As far as alternative, create a new account and don't do whatever it was you did.
I have an IG account....been open for like 6 years...has no pictures and no issues.
You also don't need to "follow" anyone. Bookmark their page and visit that way.
I guess I'll try again with another proton address? I don't know if that's gonna do it though.

Just a guess, suggestion. Maybe? Maybe not?

The link @sweetjamesjones provided has been working great for me though, except for a handful of private pages, which I am resigned to not seeing.
