Like what the actual fuck? I don't understand why the fuck any adult would watch Japanese cartoons. It was ok in grade school but like damn do u never grow up the fuck? I can say without fail almost all adults I've met that watch anime have some very serious issues.

Sure, there are some goofy tropes, because Japan, but there are also some really, really good stories there.
(And that remains true for anything animated, be it Japanese or not.)
Anywho, I recently watched and enjoyed "Memories" (1997) and "Pantheon" (2022). I recommend both.
"Pantheon" might be a bit of a stretch as it's anime style but not really Japanese. It's based on the short fiction of definitely-not-a-children's-science-fiction-author Ken Liu, who is very good all on his own.
Anime? Saturday night is for chasing pussy.
That kind of sums up adults that watch anime. For me, every Saturday night from college is the same memory - whether on campus or off, whether our hall or a different frat's hall: beer, weed, chasing tail.
'Like 13. Somebody teach me how to type'
Oh? And here I thought you found religion, hooked up with that foghorn character and were repenting by quoting bible verses.
I think the people with the bigger problem are those that would judge people for what they find entertaining. After all, a lot of people would judge all of us on this site for liking strip clubs and say it makes us deviants. I've even heard people criticize anyone that watches pro sports because "it is nothing more than grown adults playing a kid's game." To me as long as it isn't illegal why would I care what someone likes to watch for entertainment.
Interesting fact regarding George Lucas writing of Star Wars: “the space opera element is something that has its roots in much of anime and manga. Specifically the work of Leiji Matsumoto on series like Space Battleship Yamato.”
So... yeah, in that context, I guess you caught me. I fully confess to occasionally enjoying more things.
Maybe give it a try sometime.
I’ve never seen a Marvel movie, nor have I’ve watched Harry Potter, Twilight or Lord of the Rings. The only Star Wars movie I watched was the first one around 1977. Didn’t like it.
But then I watched hole to hole coverage of the US Women’s Open at Pebble Beach.
So not sure where I fit on the spectrum of normalcy.
the tuscl soap opera continues...

Then he said “so I graduated high school waaaaaay back in 2011 and back then if you admitted to liking any of that you were a complete loser. But you young girls are into it and open about it and that’s so awesome”
Since I had already lied to him, I couldn’t admit that was when I graduated high school as well. But I knew what he meant. Back then, being part of the “media arts club” was worse social suicide than joining a science or chess team. But when I thought about it, the guy had a point. Gen Z made that stuff mainstream and I salute them for having good taste 😋

anime, chess, and all the rest that is considered socially awkward should not a correlated to faggotry but instead be attributed to being a nerd. there is a big difference among the two. we're all living in modern times such that it is now more acceptable for younger kids to nerd out. even some of today's cool kids admit to nerding out to anime.
so yeah gen z should be feel very fortunate to be living in present times. admitting to liking anime would have had any kid shunned by many social circles going way back in time. in some instances that shit could even be a cause for getting a brutal ass kicking.
