@Eltriste - I never tried the chicken at White Castle, but it sounds terrible. It would be more interesting if they made them like the burgers - ground up chicken pressed into squares with little holes in them and fried on the grill. Now THAT I would try.

I fuckin LOVE the regular sliders with cheese and extra ketchup. And even though the onion rings aren't very good compared to other places, they somehow go perfectly with the White Castle burgers. I like the clam strips too.

Fun fact - Burger King “chicken” nuggets are made out of starfish.

Panda Express “pork” is really cat (Mamisan told me so).

And the apple juice served at San Jose Public library is laced with Clorox but they still can’t kill off SJG.

I no longer eat most of this stuff I'm hoping to not have a heart attack anytime soon, but I have to admit a weakness for White Castle cheeseburgers, good thing the nearest White Castle store to my home is 862.6 miles away, I love pizza but never get pizza from a chain store.
My nomination for worst would be Chik-a-fila not because I've ever eaten their food, rather because they build their stores in such a way that whenever you need to go past them at lunch time, their Drive-Thru spills out and causes a traffic jam where ever they are located.

I don't eat enough fast food to declare a best, but the worst is, by far, Five Guys. Completely overrated. The fries are soggy with grease and way too much salt. The burgers are plain crap. KFC always seems to have soggy skins, at every location. Papa John's quality has turned to crap in the past few years.

Chick-Fil-A and Culver's seem to have consistently better quality.

@shailynn/muddy: those dick's fries were kind of amazing. Every week or so, a truck would drop off a couple of 100 pound bags of raw unpeeled potatoes, and we'd shift them into the back room. We would take a bunch of these dirty potatoes out, and drop them into a sink of water to rinse and drain. Then, they would go into a hand cutter... like an aluminum can crusher with a lever and grate on one end. We didn't peel them, just shredded them into fry shape. Then, they'd sit in a sink of water for a while, drain, repeat, and then drop into a 3rd sink to dry and wait for the fryer. The fry kettles were pretty much standard, but the oil was beef tallow. Then, fry until they get light brown and a broken fry has a white ring inside, pull, yell "HOT FRIES", and dump into the warming bin where you would invariably burn your forearm on the grates covering the warming lights. Salt, and serve. I don't know what other fast food places do for fries, but these seemed pretty retro and simple at the time.

In August, a 1/4 full bag of potatoes in that back room could get pretty funky. Not a smell that you forget!

I had sold my jar of coins to my favorite Taco Bell, so that they could make change.

Just two days ago I discovered that I had a big can with about $30 in pennies. I am using these now to make exact change for the taco truck.

Best chicken (bone-in): Golden Corral (maybe not traditional fast food, but best I've had not cooked in my own house. Popeye's and KFC are both crap.

Best tasting unique menu item: Arby's buffalo chicken sandwich. Unlike most chain joint buffalo chicken, it actually has a little heat. Add some of those seasoned curly fries and it's one of my guilty pleasures, which I can't indulge often

Best pizza (what type): None. I can't eat chain joint pizza anymore.

Worst overall fast-food joint: Tossup - there are several. There are only a handful I will visit anymore.

My #1 favorite burger is Smashburger's truffle mushroom swiss. Not sure if they offer it at all locations because they tailor their burger toppings according to local preferences.

Best tasting unique menu item: Rubio's Fresh Mexican Grill - Baja grilled chicken burrito, no guac. I don't know what they put in that thing, but that was like crack. Sofa king good. Sadly, it's been off the menu for a few years now.

Best pizza: for fast food pizza, I am gonna have to go with Peyton, Shaq, and Papa John. I dig the single pepper they toss in the box.

Worst overall fast food joint: not because of the food, only because I refuse to wait in a drive thru like for 30+ minutes - In N Out or Raising Cane's (but I REALLY want to try this)

Oh best chicken sandwich: Carl's Jr - whatever the one is with chicken, bacon, and swiss. No mayo but maybe some ranch on it? Lettuce, tomato, and then get some buffalo sauce. Mmmmmmm.

I avoid fast food as much as possible for health reasons. But it’s difficult to never eat it. So I’d go with an Arby’s roast beef sandwich, Five Guys fries, and… not much else.

As far as “best” fast food, I begrudge no one their sensual enjoyments. But it’s like asking me to pick the hottest stripper among a bunch of obese ones with crooked teeth and bad body odor. To me, there is no actual best.
