It's a shame, he was once interviewed saying a "mentor" or "someone he looked up to" offered him a joint one time and he smoked it and got hooked. Didn't realize it was laced with crack cocaine and he became hooked ever since.
I don't know anything about this guy or his music - I've heard of him. But drug addiction has influenced probably 90% of creative geniuses. The Beatles, Ray Charles, Grateful Dead, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Amy Winehouse, Kurt Cobain, Prince, Aerosmith, Pink Floyd. I'm not putting him in the same category as these legends, just saying maybe he might have just been chasing greatness. I don't judge him.

I don't know anything about him other than I've seen his name here and there over the years but I suppose none of it matters now. It was just reported on local news that he died this morning.

I know of him but I can't say I know much - once in a while he'd be mentioned on a TV show I was watching (it was usually w.r.t. his troubles) - apparently he had a rough life but that seems to apply to many rappers.
When I saw this thread a couple of days ago I didn't know he had passed and the OP wasn't clear.

As someone who has watched my brother fight addiction for more than 20 years this rings very true. Unfortunately my brother refuses to accept it and every few years he convinces himself that he has overcome the problem and that he is no longer an addict. Inevitably this is followed by a relapse a few months later.
