Kind of had mixed feelings about Miley Cyrus, but after this video, I think I'm a 100% fan. Possibly better than the original youtube.com

Jump to latestNah, I liked the original better. But very good effort. And great body suit. Icey, we've seen your phat girls !
It’s a good song for Myles Cyrus, but I like the original better. Especially if you focus on the voice and not the background band.
"Blondie is the name of the band, you twinkies. Her name is Debbie Harry."
Why I read the comments on the vids.
I love Blondie/Deborah Harry, but I really like Miley Cyrus's take on this. Very close to the original, but a little bit harsher and more of a gut punch listening to it.
When talking about a song, I think it is appropriate to say Blondie, and to say Deborah Harry when talking about the singer.
Sort of like Jethro Tull vs Ian Anderson.
Miley, seems like she's still just a kid, and trying too hard, it just doesn't work for me. I prefer the original version with Debbie Harry, she never seemed to be trying so hard, it's a better fit to her stage persona
I dig Miley, her voice has some raspy Stevie Nicks to it. If she got out of pop and did a little more folksy/independent stuff she’d do much better.
" seems like she's still just a kid, and trying too hard,"
That's what I always thought, too, but had second thoughts after listening to this, and then found her cover of Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here, and now definitely like her. Doubt I'll ever go to a concert or anything like that, but I really like her how.
Looks like it's a live video - I rather hear the studio version - usually not a big fan of live version of songs - I don't like the way Miley sounds in that video; seems she's screaming more than singing; but she does look sexy in the vid (IDK if that was @DrE's point)

No, no really. She does look sexy, but I think her voice is even more sexy--not necessarily more so than Deborah Harry, but I just liked the more hard core way she sang this song, although I also love Deborah Harry's original version.
So I also just looked at Blondie's original version which opens and closes with some views of the Twin Towers in NYC and I just get pissed off thinking of those mother fuckers and am just glad GWB was president at the time and we went to the other side of the fucking world and tracked down those motherfuckers and killed most of them, although it took several more years to find UBL and kill him.
Never forget
Not even close. Debbie Harry might be the hottest woman to ever walk the earth. Here's a reminder of her sweet voice, and a total smoke show in just a simple mini-dress, singing one of my favorite Blondie songs. youtube.com And a special studio version for Papi, since he doesn't like live recordings... youtube.com
I find her voice annoying
@MisterOrange - I think that Ann or Nancy Wilson back in the 70s would have given Deborah Harry a tun for her money for hottest woman in rock. And there is no doubt that Ann Wilson has a better voice.
But Deborah Harry is good. Not just good, but very good. There is a unique quality to her voice that fits certain songs very well.
I’m a fan of Blondie; I own several albums. I don’t have any Miley Cyrus albums or songs. However, this was a pretty good performance from Miley. I do have to admit it’s easier to understand the vocals in Miley’s rendition. Probably some combination of Miley’s enunciation and the sound engineers’ choices.
But I’m still going to listen to Blondie.
Even if someone is a not great singer but you know their great song, an awesome singer might not top the original because it’s, well, the original. Like Brittany Spears is not a great singer but Celine Dion could not do Baby One More Time and make you like it.
Miley is a great singer, this is a hard song. I like her more once she grew out of the tongue out phase and she’s had some live performances that just are amazing, including a concert with her dad.
Her barber needs to be fired though, the hair cut and color are just brutal.
I've just always had a thing for Deborah Harry, since I was a kid. christies.com
her version of 'glass is not even close. but i admire her for having the balls to give it a try. she does do a good stevie nicks impression here though.
overall she does not suck. props for no autotune.
It was a nice cover. Still have preference for the original Blondie version. I felt like the original voice had more melancholy in there.
2020 has been a shitty year. but if there is one thing that i had to find positive it's the 2020 version of miley cyrus. this is good shit:
thanks doc evil - once i look for more and i like i'm a gonna be a fan.
I don't think it is as good as the original, but I do think Miley did it justice.
Good version. Not as good. Lesser voice.
The only Miley cover I truly enjoy and it is a big time hippy throw back. youtube.com

I'm a pretty-big fan of Blondie - not a fan of Miley - will watch the video in a bit out of curiosity
