Aging: Top Gun 2 Edition

The original Top Gun is one of my favorite movies. It's just so cheesy and awesome with a killer soundtrack and in my opinion the best cinematography ever although admittedly the movie was slightly gay. Top Gun 2, it's sequel, was supposed to come out already but now next year due to Covid. Much noise about the film has been how Tom Cruise hasn't seemed to change much in a 34 year gap. Lets compare.

The moral of the story when it comes to the passage of time, is be more like Tom Cruise and less like the normal humans. Anyway I'm stoked for this fucking movie and ready to say how much it sucked compared the first one.

Wow. Has it really been 34 years since the original ? Yeah, Father Time has not been kind to Kelly McGinnis.

Men appear to hold onto their looks better than women. Besides Top Gun's characters, I have noticed the same thing in American Pie 1999 and American Reunion in 2012. The women really took a beating in looks.

Tom Cruise looks very comfortable bending over and spreading his cheeks on a bike.

It’s sad to see how both Val Kilmer and Kelly McGillis have aged. I think Val Kilmer looks like a complete nut job. Kelly McGillis looks like an average aging middle American woman - maybe a grandma type.

Yeah - Tom Cruise looks amazingly well for being close to 60 - IDK if he's been living extremely healthy, or has had some work done, or both (he seemed to look more handsome in his 40s than his 20s)

Back in the day I thought Val Kilmer was very good looking - at some point in the 90s or 2000s, he went downhill either thru drugs or mental issues; at one point he had put on a lot of weight.

Kelly McGillis ls unrecognizable - hard to believe how much she's let herself go after being a sex-symbol and one would think having the mean$ to maintain herself looking good; perhaps she's had health-issues which can take a toll on one's looks and motivation to look well.

Cruise is the youngest at 58, followed by Kilmer at 60, and McGillis at 63.

I don't see Kelly McGillis listed in any TG2 role, though it appears that Val Kilmer may be back in his "Iceman" role.

This is the one thing that men have an advantage over women. One of the very few things...

Women are total smoke shows in their 20s. Men in a lot of cases still look like 12 year olds. Then ageing really kicks in during the late 30s. Most women age like a gallon of milk, and some men age like a fine wine.

I think the secret is men can more easily lose weight, they look distinguished with grey hair, and a few wrinkles don't hurt them one bit. All those things are like kryptonite to women.
