Talking to a former fine Thai favorite of years back, I reminded her that when she first started dancing she would DFK which I enjoyed. Eventually she stopped and along with becoming mechanical I stopped spending much money on her.
When I mentioned she stopped DFK she said "well, you never asked for it".

That being said, for me the DFK experience is much more enjoyable when it feels natural and not routine, which by asking (and paying for) might seem to diminish the experience, though once engaged in a DFK session all the blood heads south and who cares what I thought, just enjoy the ride.

Pretty much everything we PLs ask for in a strip Club is obscene. So, WTF, just do it.
I've asked nearly every dancer. Some do and some don't, the ones that do gets my money ;). But that means there were times when I had to leave the club without a dance, which felt awkward at times.
Many of the dancers I know see DFK as more intimate than sex, and seem to want to reserve it for their SOs. I’ve also had dancers initiate it to my great enjoyment. I say it can’t hurt to ask.

Dancers have told me some of the things they've been asked to do. Some have been pretty jaw dropping. Others have required a sketch drawn on a cocktail napkin for me to fully fathom.
DFK isn't remotely obscene compared to 99% of the things a stripper is asked to do.

Its not obscene to ask about DFK in a strip club. Experienced dancers have most likely been asked for much more obscene acts from customers.
I think the OP makes a good point - as its best to ask in a non creepy way. Then you will know where she stands, and you can pursue a DFK, or move on.
Asking for it is not obscene. But asking for it is not the best way of making it happen. If you want to kiss her, just kiss her.
Sure you try and set the mood as best as you can, but then just kiss her.
And this is why it is best to do it in the front room, and to do quite a bit of kissing with her before going to any booths or back rooms.
