@blahblah would like a paralegal job.
  • What's wrong with paralegals ? They make good money and the best ones make more money than (you) and full time lawyers . lmao

    Not a dig against paralegals.

I just know that if there is murder involved, she would likely be interested in the job.

Aggressive attorneys have made a big difference in our society. Sarah Weddington, Gloria Alright. And then sometimes they end up on the other side of the bench, like RBG.

No wonder Shailynn and others, like Motörhead, quit posting.

I’m getting tired of it too.

Nicole - I know a handful of lawyers. Some are very successful, either for law firms or in boring corporate jobs. I know a few others that have law degrees but have a job totally unrelated to law, ie sales, nurse (really), etc.

From what I see the common theme of those that practice law full time for a living, whether in big or small firms, is that they are not super content. From a far it seems like a constant grind, dealing with pissed off people everyday, twisted situations, the slippery and nuanced legal system, etc.. I had beers with two lawyer friends recently. Both are in private practice and litigate. The conversation ended with me saying, well, at least your clients like you, right? Their answer was pretty indifferent but sounded more like a no. That’s rough. Their clients don’t even appreciate the shit they deal with to take care of the client?

From what I can tell if there was ever a profession that is more difficult or different from what young people perceive it to be, it is law. A lot/most jobs are like that, being a lawyer just seems to be the extreme.

Of all the professions, lawyers have the lowest Job satisfaction. Paralegals are secretaries.

A good lawyer doesn't go to court though.... the point is to avoid a trial.

Lawyers have very high social status, and are much celebrated. Much of what they do though, solving problems for little people without much money, I would not want to do.

    But then consider:
    http://www.nsbcivilrights.com/

They represent clients, but there is also a public interest.

"In addition to wrongful convictions, police shootings, and jail and prison suits, we also accept cases on behalf of victims of catastrophic personal injury, sexual harassment, and discrimination in the corporate or public spheres. We are often called upon for trial practice and strategic consultation, such as to revive important civil rights claims or protect large civil rights verdicts on appeal."

And then of course lawyers are often elected to office, and law school professors are often involved in legal reforms.
