Ignore/Block—is it two way?

Evil Lair
I ask because I commented on Ricky Boy’s post about Dalllas clubs, and of course calling him out on his ass hattery. Now I can’t see the entire discussion post anymore. I’m wondering if he blocked me and that blocking not only prevents him from seeing my posts, but prevents me from seeing any discussions he initiated. Anyone known if this is actually how it works?

Maybe he blocked you over the comment you just posted on his thread

I did not see your comment on Rickys thread but it shows in your comments in your profile

Well, being the true pussy that he is, it seems he can dish it out but he can’t take it. He reminds me of the Robert Ryan character from this scene from the Dirty Dozen: https://youtu.be/R2hkw-qYEWQ

Yeah, you will still be able to read his stuff if he comments in random threads. But both his and your topics won’t be visible anymore.

    Congrats!

I don't agree w/ the 2-way-block and not allowing a TUSCLer to comment on an entire thread - if you don't like someone's opinion then you can hide/block his comments so you don't have to read it but not totally disable the other user from being able to contribute since others on the thread are not blocking that particular user (the 2-way-block seems to be a bit new "enhancement")

But sometimes, even if the OP doesn’t take the bait of a reply, other potential contributors will. Something I’ve certainly been guilty of. Making somebody’s posts disappear and not be readable invalidates their efforts to derail your thread.

Which is a good thing imo even if it works against me. Now I can’t have any more fun with copying and pasting Harry Potter smut in Icey’s threads.

The only posts that you can see from someone who's blocked you are their replies in a discussion that they didn't start. When you are blocked you cannot see their profile and you cannot see any discussions that they have created.

I don't think anyone, except maybe Founder, should block another custy from posting - this can easily be abused to block anyone on your thread that you don't like and prohibit that person from contributing info others may wanna read - i.e. derailing a thread is not the only reason to block someone from posting, not liking that person's opinions is another reason which it then becomes censorship

  • Papi_Chulo

Yeah, it doesn’t seem right that the the poster gets to censor any criticism he doesn’t like by blocking the commenter. I checked the list while logged out to see how this worked, and I could see Ricky D-bag’s post again, but my comment was censored out. I could see Papi’s last post there, though. Watch out Papi, you may be the next on Ricky’s block list. I’m sure that would hurt your feelings.

I use it for two posters because they never comment on my thread they just use it as a forum to attack, sorry sometimes I feel it’s justified

There has to be a way to please everyone.

    I don't want trolls hijacking a thread. That's why it's a 2 way block.

I see the 2-way-block purpose but I think it does more harm than good.

IMO the bigger issue is people on here being addicted to flame-wars and going back-and-forth w/ trolls which causes most of the hijacking when it does happen - having a one-way block where the bitchy flame-wars don't get started will likely eliminate 95% of the hijacking - and it's not as if hijacking of threads happens on 50% of the threads, it happens but on a small % of threads IMO - it's usually the flame-wars that derail most of the threads that get derailed.

That’s not correct Papi, just because you don’t get flamed too often doesn’t mean it’s not happening, just take a look at BBS threads every time she posts the ad hominem attacks on her are disgusting from the two that I have on ignore.
Most here eventually agree to disagree but the block is used pretty judiciously for the most part.
There are a few that absolutely deserve to be blocked, I don’t think Dr. Evil is one of them, but I like having that in my tool kit.

I absolute love the two way block. That way certain basement dwelling rapists don’t have the opportunity to shit post a thread and bump it to the top of the board.

It’s not censorship, after all blocking someone from one’s own thread does nothing about any other thread, as this very thread proves.

@founder: No, there isn’t any way to please everyone. Please yourself.

  • Papi_Chulo

As I mentioned - a TUSCLer should not be able to decide whether or not another TUSCLer can post his opinion, even if "it's the OP's thread" which IMO it really isn't *his* thread, the OP just started it - if someone does not like someone else's opinion the one-way-block should suffice (out-of-sight out-of-mind) - if there is abuse of purposely derailing a thread w/ a shit-ton of posts it can be handled another way rather than completely blocking someone from posting b/c they don't like their opinion - again most of the thread-derailing occurs from TUSCLers going back-and-forth endlessly - it's rarely a one-way thing.

I rather keep one-way-blocking - too many idiots on TUSCL at times clogging up the board w /their nonsense - the one-way-block means I don't have to scroll thru tons of garbage

The one-way-block gives a TUSCLer a bit of personal moderating power w/o it being too-much moderating power
  • SirLapdancealot

It's still not a true 2-way block when the blocked can still see any post by a blocker in others' discussions. It's more like a 1.67-way block currently.

Without reading 30 something post about the same topic, let me understand something from the original post from evil. He blocks someone, OK. He can not see any of his post in a topic OR any topic started be said offender. I think I have the correct to this point. After that point the offender can still post whatever in topics AND still start a topic, correct? If so, how does that affect other users as Papi mentioned, or am I missing something?
  • doctorevil
It affects other users, in particular new users, because with Ricky Boy’s ability to censor comments critical of himself they may not realize what a complefe dipshit he is, and they may actually take his advice shitting on Baby Dolls seriously. Not to mention his retarded advice about wearing a suit to improve odds of OTC. What a complete pussy.

I'm good with the two way block. What's funny is I got blocked by a dancer after I trusted her for the sexy pics she posted of herself. I don't even remember her handle, she was new to me as I had been away from tuscl for awhile. I've never seen getting blocked for complementing someone.lol

I support the two-way block. If more people would ignore the trolls, then there would be fewer of them (ie they would have less incentive). Like SCPandit, i blocked him after his earliest post, so I dont even know what the hubbub is.

RickDugan saw this while logged off and asked me to relay the following message. Please don't shoot the messenger!

    .......................................................................................................
Rickdugan's message: "doctorevil was blocked because he felt it necessary to copy and paste the same goofy off-topic troll post in virtually every thread I started. I showed the patience of Solomon in tolerating this for quite some time, probably because I'm a parent who is accustomed to the outbursts of children. I hate the notion of blocking an active poster, but at some point enough is enough. There is a difference between sharply worded on-topic criticism and off-topic trolling, yet doctor believes that his getting butt hurt over the former justifies responding with repetitive versions of the latter and she showed no signs of letting up. So here we are, with him whining about how he can't go back to trolling another user's threads. Needless to say, I am a big fan of two way blocking exactly because of doctor's weirdly childish and obsessive behavior, which is exactly the type of activity that two way block was meant to prevent.. -RD"

Ricky Boy’s douchebaggery and pussiness reaches new heights. He calls PaulDrake a pussy for putting him on block, and then moments later Ricky Boy puts me on block because, after starting shit with me, he wants to run away and hide behind a block because I didn’t just roll over and put up with his shit. Now he’s sending notes through third parties like a teenaged girl. And yes, this is the same retard that thinks you have to put on a suit and pretend to be someone else to be successful at OTC. https://www.tuscl.net/app/discussion.php… Not to mention his abnormal fixation with certain clubs, like his adoration of that shithole Lollipops, which set off his tirade against me, or his bizarre crusade against Baby Dolls Dallas, where almost everyone else manages to have a good time. It’s pretty clear from his writing that Ricky Boy is not really stupid, but there’s something seriously wrong with that guy. But most of all, he’s just a giant pussy. Putting me on block and then sending a message through a third party? Jeez.

I always thought any ignore or block feature was pointless. If I don't want to read or comment on another's post, I simply ignore it and let it pass by. No need for a button to assist me with that.
