You should probably stick with street clothes. You said it yourself; you don't want to draw negative attention. I've been to TJ and there are plenty of 'shady' characters on the streets depending on what time you are out. Better to be safe than sorry.

You do not want to dress up while in TJ. You want to wear clothes that you can easily get out of. And if the people on the street see you all dressed up, you will become a target. Even in the clubs, you might become a target.

Hotel Cascada is very safe! When on streets wear street clothes preferrably pants or shorts with zipper pockets! Keep your phone and wallet zipped up! There are pick pockets! Do not talk to the drug dealers on the streets! I was there for 4 days and never once felt unsafe! I did have an attempted pickpocket though! He failed

SJG - I have no idea. So far all I know is from what I have read online and from stories I have heard from friends. Currently I am building up an idea of what the experience will be like, but the reality may be very different. I might walk into the lobby of HK, and walk right out if I get a bad vibe.

But it will always help to tell them the obvious things, place of residence, occupation, indirectly your marital status, why you are in TJ, how often you will be there in the future, why you are in the zona, why you gave her money and started squeezing her tits, and what you really want out of this.
