While walking in the Zona, I got the standard "hey, come visit in here" message from one of the waiters (meseros ?). What they do is promote time with a girl in the VIP room for "Free". They don't tell you it's only 5 minutes (I know this now after looking at the room prices at the other clubs). So they get you in there with the girl for the time, and then later ask you for $100 for more time, then eventually try to get you into their hotel room for more money (another $120), and this does not include the fee for the chica. I am sure most of you know about this grift, but it's the first time I have experienced it. I just told them I wanted to stay in the VIP room and had just finished with the girl there. I am posting this as a cautionary tale.

last comment@Owlyoung_ggofv I think there must have been some sort of miscommunication or misunderstanding, on one end or the other. Because a small sample of "free" time has always been standard here, as has the VIP amount. Similarly, the bar fine has remained minimal and consistent, at least the few dozen times I've visited, and of course it doesn't include the fee for the chica herself. Lastly, of course they eventually try to get you to a hotel; that's the objective for 99% of all parties involved.

@Owlyoung_ggofv: That’s the first I’ve heard of it. I’ve been to La Gloria a couple of times and didn’t know about that “deal”. Thanks for sharing that with us.

About a year ago. I did one of those little VIP rooms in La Gloria with a rare find hottie. And it was like $50 with six ficha drinks. (or was it eight?) And I consider that still on the high side. It was fun!

@Jascoi It could have been either! In my many visits, the meseros/meseras at La Gloria have always been top-tier. So I wouldn't be surprised if they comped you an extra two drinks for absolutely nothing more than you being nice, friendly, or any other similar reasons.
