I have a question for all of my fellow TJ connoisseurs. Between these two hotels: which one do you personally prefer, and why?
3+ years ago, I'd say that the two weren't very comparable, as (at least in my personal experiences) Cascadas was superior to Rizo in most metrics. However, within the last 3 years (especially the last 18 months), I'd say that has changed, as Rizo has really narrowed the gap. In the last 3 years alone, I've stayed at each hotel at least 8 times, and now find that I no longer have a preference as both are terrific (for what they are).
Please, discuss!

last commentI've gone back and forth too. Honestly, it's not worth agonizing over, they are both pretty comparable. But here are the pros of each as I see them:
Rizo:
Cas:
Like I said, the differences are not worth agonizing over. Lately I've been doing Cas just because I spend much more time in HK than BT and therefore get more mileage out of the free drink perk with the Cas VIP card.

@RonJax2 Excellent breakdown my friend; couldn't have explained it better myself! If I ever come across a thread with a newbie (or really anyone for that matter) debating on where to stay, I'll refer them over to your response, because you perfectly highlighted all that one may need when making a decision.
As you pointed out, with the two hotel offerings now being so comparable, I think it really does simply come down to where you plan on spending most of your time. For someone that intends to predominantly find themselves feeding The Dragon, no doubt Cascadas is the only choice.
For me, I alternate between the two hotels on a trip-by-trip basis, making a decision based on nothing more than a figurative coin flip. Because, depending on the length of any given TJ trip, I'll typically dedicate 2-3 days total to HK, and another 2-3 days total to BT, a few of the smaller clubs, and exploring the streets of ZN for local cuisine and fun (paraditas included).

I generally stay at Cascadas. Nowadays, I find that I spend more time in the alley bars (Gold Palace, La Hacienda, La Carreta etc) than I do at HK and BT. The location of Casacadas is simply more convenient to bring girls from these bars back to your room.

Great point @devl_dawgg - access to the alley clubs is much better at Cas than from Rizo, where you'd either have to get patted down and walk through all of HK, or go around the block on Av. Niños Héroes.

@Devl_dawgg and @RonJax2 Definitely an excellent point fellas! Personally, I like the walk from Rizo to the alley bars. But I usually take Coahuila to Constitucion and enjoy a stroll up that way. Gives me the opportunity to take in more of the Zona, to grab a horchata from one of the vendors, or a few quality cigars from some of the street hustlers.

If you want a quieter atmosphere more conducive for sleeping, Rizo is the choice. If you want to be right where all the action is - either HK or the alley clubs - then Cas is your best bet. I’ve stayed in both places, and IMHO you can’t go wrong with either.
But (@RonJax2 alluded to this), a VIP card from BT is only good for BT. Whereas a VIP card from HK can be used at both BT and HK.

@OPIllini96 Excellent thoughts! Rizo "being more conducive for sleeping" is something that I don't think can be stressed enough, particularly for those that need plenty of rest and/or are light sleepers. I'm very fortunate that I've never had to take that factor into consideration, as I don't sleep much, and when I do, even @RonJax2 falling through my ceiling in the midst of a threesome wouldn't wake me up!

Have you ever tried climbing out of a jacuzzi onto a wet marble floor flanked by two naked spinners when intoxicants are involved? You have a 50/50 shot at not crashing through the floor in such a situation. Very dangerous.
Very dangerous for the wallet. Just say no to threesomes. 🚫🙆♀️🙅♂️🙆♀️🚫
