Will another deep recession revive the stripclub game?

Thursday, May 11, 2017 12:15 PM
Just remembering how live and how hard dancers worked in the 2000s. Wondering if another recession hit, how would it effect the stripclub industry.

Careful, this is getting into Dougster territory. He was saying that the boom of 2015 was going to raise all boats, and so the 'whorification' of our strip clubs would be reversed. I don't agree with him. If you are seeing tamer clubs and dancers, probably because of fear of LE they have to ratchet it down. SJG Tarot Contemplation [view link]

I remember an article in the LA Times, from the height of the recession showing two escorts in a NV brothel lamenting how slow business as. One of them was a MILF porn star with massive fake ones, Brooke Tyler.

There may be a correlation both ways (good vs bad economy). IMO when an economy is booming and there's lots of $$$ around and thus lots of $$$ in the clubs; this usually brings in more and better dancers b/c they can make a killing - IMO slow-times w/ custies hanging on to their $$$ may actually cause dancers to leave dancing vs when it's booming. IMO a booming economy will more like lead to booming SCs full of women wanting to make that dough and put up w/ the shit they have to put up with as strippers; if they are not making good $$$ and don't see that it's gonna get-better, they may not want to put up w/ stripping and what comes w/ it.

^^^^^ Wrong! Dougster told us that the boom of 2015 was going to be so big that it would reverse the 'whorification'. Only homos and psychos refuse to listen to Dougster. SJG

OP: "Will another deep recession revive the stripclub game?" That was RickyBoy's thesis.

I think thats a great idea, these women would get desprate and the girls who arent willing to give extras now would give extras because they depend on the money. You could bang the 10's for like $200.

A better economy brings in better dancers, but they don't have to work as hard for the money. The economic downturn created more pressure to do more to get more, but dancer quality suffered. However, my perception is that the clubs near where I live are suffering. One club has started (for the first time) offering discounts and promotions to get people in the door. I see a LOT of rocks at multiple clubs. I think another serious economic down turn will finish off a lot of clubs.

I am a female, 30 years old and I'm just now preparing myself to begin dancing, despite being super shy and softspoken.... So if that tells you anything :p Yeah, the economy's real...

relli, I'm not following your logic so I'll fall back on a brilliant TUSCL trope: show us your tits! ;)

People who are middle class get squeezed in a recession and have no money for dancers. Dancers make less, and only the best dancers survive. When times are good you get more shitty dancers but they're making money along with the talented ones.

The wealth gap keeps getting bigger. Each one of these boom and bust cycles that Dougster and his friends bring upon us makes this more like a 3rd World country. SJG

SJG why is every post that you write becomes the same words in the same chronological order? Don't u have anything better to do?

Gaffigan, don't you have anything better to do, like give stupid idiotic standup routines, besides posting negative meta-narratives on this board? SJG

I studied economics as an UG and economic cycles affect strip clubs differently from my observations. Good economic times, dancers get more money while doing less but not much change in who dances or the amount of dancers. Bad economic times, a spike in dancers because these are women from various industries running to strip clubs to earn a living. A plethora of nice-looking girls-next-door. I know a particular mid-mileage dancer who claims to bartend but she does Lyft too. Doesn't look highly skilled but she can get a low-skilled job off just being petite and cute. Keep in mind, we're living in a time where consumerism is sky high.

^^^^ But each of our boom and bust cycles leave more people working in shit jobs. Makes this more like a 3rd world country. Increases the wealth gap. SJG

Thus more chicks dancing but the cream of the crop still eats. Definitely good for the extras guys. Slow nights and bad chicks would be willing to fuck for $60.

I do feel like the talent pool is a bit thin locally right now. Maybe it's the finals week thing, where the local college girls aren't dancing this week and the ones who go to school elsewhere and dance during the summer haven't returned. There are some of the same girls that have been around half a decade. But they need some better new blood.
