Expanding on shadowcat's thread a bit got me thinking, how important is it?
Personally, it adds up to 2 points. I like the role-playing, the imagination, and the tease. The right outfit adds a bit of personality and makes her stand out. I've got my fair share of standbys that I love, but also seen some mismatched lingerie pair that just looked good. Honestly, sometimes a bare naked body bores me and I have her keep it on for just a little bit longer.
If you asked me what my favorite dancer was wearing last night I'd be hard pressed to remember but I had a favorite last year whose costume and make up added appreciably to her attractiveness. She always stood out from the others and was unpredictable from one visit to the next. She would be a blonde vamp one night and a seductive schoolgirl the next. After spending thousands on dances at the club I made it to her apartment and remember one day when we had an afternoon tryst and then I took her to a beauty supply shop where I bought her hair extensions which she took to a hairdresser who wove them in ( well over an hour); then back to her apartment for make up, modeling outfits, etc. she "danced like an Egyptian" that night and given her mixed ethnicity, she pulled it off beautifully. She understood what attracts men better than most dancers and it was a total package. She's no longer dancing but we're in touch and she's now about 6 months pregnant and barely showing her "baby bump". There's no doubt in my mind that she'll be a knockout well into her 40's and she just turned 23.
I think it matters a little bit. Girls who put a little thought into their outfits do generally get a chance to give me a lap dance, although end results vary widely, from total one-off dancer to ATF quality dancer.
Outfits on strippers are important in the front room, kinda like a shiny new car on a car lot. Does it really matter in once you're in the back?
A lot of dancers would have gone unnoticed by me if it weren't for their attention grabbing outfits. For an example I'm a sucker for thigh highs and garter belts - so if a 6 is wearing them I'm likely to interact with her over an 8 in an undesirable outfit.
It matters a little bit but not a lot. The key is what she looks like when the outfit comes off.

I could imagine an unflattering outfit causing me to pass on a girl I otherwise would consider, but don't think an outfit would make me consider a girl I otherwise wouldn't.
When it comes to stripper outfits, I'm a big proponent of keeping it simple and less being more.
A good outfit does little to up a girls stock in my view, but a bad one can certainly hurt it. At clubs where dances are topless, I'm not getting a dance from a girl in a one piece. I also avoid girls with outfits that appear complex to take off. I avoid girls with outfits that could be hiding something, at least until I've seen enough to know that's not the case. None are really "hard" rules, but generally speaking they're tendencies.

In general, I agree it matters a little but not a lot. For me, though, the corner cases can be pretty big. For example, I sometimes see a girl with a somewhat flat ass, wear a bottom that compresses her ass even more ... once a girl has Back Ass, no amount of mileage, fun personality, and hotness elsewhere can interest me in her. This happens fairly often, I don't know what the girls are thinking. By contrast, there's a super hot girl who has a less-shapely-than-I'd-like ass, but she wears these garters on her thighs just below her ass cheeks, which plumps her ass up, and is enough to keep her on my dance card.
On the other side of things, once in a while a girl comes out in an outfit that just makes my heart thump, she looks so hot in it...
The smart ones know what to wear to entice you by highlighting their best features or slutting themselves up nice. I see way too many girls in bad outfits.
There are dancers that wear things they think are cute vs what turs-on custies, it's like they dress for themselves and what they like vs what the custies like
When strippers have asked me what I like, I always tell them to wear things that are easy to get in and out of.
It can make a difference if the girl is is in the 5,6,7 range maybe. 8's 9's 10's I don't care what they are or are not wearing, I'm attracted.
If she's a 4 or less, it doesn't matter what she wears.
Actually, if she's less than a 5, I'd pay for her to keep her clothes on at the club.
Like others have said, it CAN make a little difference, but not a big difference.
They should not be too clingy about taking off their outfit during dances.Other than that it's their personal taste. A few of them try to be so efficient they would win medals in rapid dressing/undressing. Some of them are concerned of misplacing their dresses. One time I hid a strippers bra, it was fun to see her search nude everywhere around me. Much more erotic than dances :)
What girls wear is extremely important. The most important component of this is that which will not be taken off, like high heels, makeup, thigh high stockings, garter belt, etc.
Nudity and nudist camps are boring. I want the girl to dress for sex.

Agree. And it matters for that initial attraction for maybe a dance or two.

I normally don't give too much thought to outfits since I want them to be out of them ASAP, once in a while a particular outfit may catch my eye but it's not something I think about consciously
