Families are banning political discussions this Thanksgiving. I'm not going to my family's gathering, I expect a lot of drama there.

I only invite strippers to my Thanksgiving dinner. And they have enough sense not to talk politics.

Yeah, I thought things had died down and then the libs who were having a breakdown around election time were posting their hysteria around the clock on FB today.

I have siblings and lots of nieces and nephews who are hard core evangelical Christians and are just thrilled with the election results and what I view as regressive policies & practices. Politics and religion are off the table this year.

I'm having thanksgiving dinner with a couple of dozen liberal Bernie supporters. So far as I know I will be the only one there who voted for Trump. Cant wait.

Over the past 10 days I keep humming the song, "Happy days are here again" (it was the theme song for "All in the Family). I am thinking THESE are the days.

And yes, the few liberal socialist idiots I know are in mourning - and for good reason. This election may have began the end of that radical experiment in pseudo communism (not the USSR version, the Haight-Ashbury "summer of love" version. For decades liberal hippie socialists have tried to force their imaginary ideal upon the rest of us, and just like the '60s version, not only does it not work - it stinks (both figuratively and literally).

I now, maybe, I am free, free at last. No more bowing to the altar of political correctness. No more having more and more of my money stolen by the IRS to pay people who won't work. No more living in a land with a crushingly pitiful economy and millions without jobs or hope. No more listening to idiot liberal socialists like Obama and Hillary, lie and lie again.

Now if someone could just do something about the TV talking heads (those who didn't have a public nervous breakdown on election night). I am going to ENJOY Thanksgiving.

I always spend thxgiving with my (white) dad's side of the family. Our family comes from an extremely conservative country town in MI. Still, the majority of us did not vote Trump. All my cousins voted Hillary except one of my older (40s) very conservative cousins. Afaik, out of all my many aunts and uncles, only my dad and one of my uncles voted Trump. Unfortunately they are very vocal Trumpsters and although the family has decided not to talk politics at Thanksgiving (many have pledged to leave if it's brought up), I just know my dad is going to bring it up. He can't help it.

So, I've decided, much to my family's dismay, to skip Thanksgiving with them this year. Part of the reason is because the Lions play at home that day, and would I rather hear my family bicker about politics or go to work and make hundreds (if not more)? The answer is obvious. I'm going to stop by my (black) mom's side of the family's houses and stock up on delicious soul food, go home and put it in the fridge, then go to work. After work I'll return home with plenty of cash and eat my delicious food. Sounds like a perfect Thanksgiving to me. Although I will miss some of the traditional Ukrainian dishes we often have at my dad's side of the family's gatherings! I'll just have to wait until Christmas for that. No biggie. ;)

Dismay. Are you sure? Or is it to everyone's dismay if they can't be graced with your presence?

Nice catch 25. My Bad.

Boy the way Glenn Miller Played
Songs that made the Hit Parade
Guys like us we had it made
Those were the days.

Didn't need no Welfare states
Everybody pulled his weight
gee our old LaSalle ran great
Those were the days

And you knew who you were then
Girls were girls and men were men
Mister, we could use a man like Herbert Hoover again

People seemd to be content
$50 payed the rent
Freaks were in a circus tent
Those were the days

Take a little sunday spin
Tonight I'll watch the dogers win
Have yourself a dandy day that cost you under a fin

Hair was short and skirts were long
Kate Smith really sung the song
I don't know just what went wrong

THOSE WERE THE DAYS!

So Nina's father is Ukrainian. That would start to explain some things.

Noise of crying liberals was getting too loud yesterday. Had to "unfollow" some friends on FB for a bit. I'll check up on them in a couple of weeks, see if they calmed down yet.

Yes, it is one of the reasons I'm so beautiful.

Yeah I went out with a girl who had a Ukrainian father and the girls are very beautiful. Very messed up family situation though. Which is not surprising given what a shithole of a country it is. Even by Eastern European standards and before the problems with Russia.

Well my Ukrainian family has been in America for generations and the majority of them hold professional degrees. So Dougster if you are implying that Americanized Ukrainians still have "messed up families" then your prejudice is quite obvious.

Think your logic's a little broken there, Nina. Having "professional degrees" (in the profession of basket weaving, no doubt) by "the majority" of them proves your family isn't messed up? Hmmm....

I'm having Thanksgiving with a few Cuban friends and family. Every single one older than 30 voted for Trump, because they know what Obama, Hillary, and Bernie are doing and would continue to do to America with their progressive policies. The lived in Cuba. They know first hand how socialism is an inherently evil system. The only voter younger than 30 voted Clinton. He did so because his high school teachers told him how wonderful Bernie is, and Hillary is the next best thing.
That kid is in for long Thanksgiving dinner conversation at my table.

Not really one for Thanksgiving, but yes, Trump is like a nightmare that won't go away.

Amend the Constitution now and dump him! That Electoral College is the legacy of slavery and 3/5's.

If Mister Deal maker can help the regular working people I say we give him a shot. If he's just on the take and corrupt like the rest of them DCers, then just toss him in the frozen river and let President Washington's ghost cross over him.

Most of my immediate family is Mormon... as long as I don't say anything about Mitt Romney, it should be fine. They already know I refer to Trump as President Pussy-Grabber, and it's gauche enough for their sensibilities that they don't mention him around me anymore.

I'm actually envisioning more friction at Thanksgiving over the Lions-Vikings game then the election. Serious. Family is family. I have family on both sides of the political fence.

And I hope I have the opportunity to help someone this Thanksgiving that is less fortunate than I am. We can put away the 98%-2% dichotomy one day a year and think of ways we are all blessed. Whether it will be that way in a year is up to us to see what happens....
