Quote from SJG to his mom "damnit mom you need to leave the house for awhile, I have a friend coming over. I used to meet her in the back of your caprice station wagon but I can't anymore. Yes that's right, you won't have to shampoo the carpets in the backseat of the car anymore."

OMG, how many innocent men are going to get a letter, and their wives go nuts??? Sounds like the city of Oakland is going to have a bunch of lawsuits.

text from the article -->"The first question in the online form gets straight to the point: "Do you have any photos of the activity?""

(cut here)

"The predecessor to reportjohn.org was a program called Dear John, introduced in 2013, which allowed residents to fill out a form that they submitted to the police. That program generated more than 300 'Dear John' letters mailed to the owners of the vehicles spotted by residents. The police department considered it such a success that the authorities wanted to move it to an online format."

"Although the program could conceivably lead to foul play — vendettas by jilted lovers or disgruntled neighbors come to mind — Lieutenant Encinias said there had been no signs of false reporting in the Dear John program. That said, stay tuned for reaction from civil liberties groups." --> end quote, text from the article

^^^ The thing that is clear to me from this article and from the citizens using this snitching program, is that more discretion is needed (from both the escorts and the customers).

^^^Also remember, most citizens are running about with mobile phones in their hands, pockets, and purses capable or recording 1080p video or high-megapixel still photography. Big Brother has little brother snitching, now.

There were 150M people in the USSR in 1950. 150M of them were informants for Stalin. Looks like we're working towards that type of police state.

What's to stop people from parking in an undisclosed shadowy corner somewhere, getting out of their car and on foot get themselves a hoe? If a John wants sex that bad quickly, then he'd do it.

Welcome to national socialism (Nazi-ism) where to rat out your neighbor.
Go after the pimps and dope dealers. Leave the girls and 'johns' alone.

There might be less street walkers if Oakland had any strip clubs.

Big Brother is watching you.

"Residents will be encouraged to note down the license plate numbers of suspected johns’ vehicles and describe the specific activity they witnessed. The sightings are uploaded to the police, who will send a letter to the address where the vehicle is registered."

That's chilling. I have never picked up a street prostitute, but I don't think anyone should be subjected to this type of spying. Maybe the police and politicians should clean up their own houses.

Sounds like the full employment act for lawyers. We need more idiotic laws like this.

I agree with JS69 bet that they get sued by someone that they wrongly accuse and I hope the jury finds the city and the city managers get sued personally, that would end this shit. Plus this is just plain un-American.

Thanks LecherousMonk,

I did not know about this. I have though heard about this in other places, like Canada, where they were printing license plate numbers and vehicle descriptions in newspapers. And I believe that the reason they stopped was because of lawsuits.

Anyway, my involvement with street hooker has always been very limited.

And also, I am very careful about being seen with my car, when ever I visit an AMP or a strip club. I never use their parking lots, and I always park so that the car and the front door could not be observed from a single position. I know that the car is a liability. It is not just over prostitution issues, but just because they have so many reasons they can impound your car. So I never touch the car keys until I have all my cover stories ready. And I always observe scenes and suspicious people before walking from the car to my objective. Usually I park on residential streets where I will exit by going around a corner.

San Francisco has been real tough on street prostitution. I don't know how much they still have.

Oakland, as JS69 found in an article, has outlawed strip clubs. Though this law is probably unconstitutional, no one has the resources to challenge it. Oakland used to have 4 clubs listed, then 3, now zero. I suspect though that they probably do still have hooker bars, and in these places the rules might be even more relaxed than in a strip club.

Locally, everyone knows that the street scene is a problem. Girls won't talk to guys in their car on the main street. They want the guy to go onto a side street, and then they want to get in right away.

Often they are at bus stops. I think they will get on the bus with you if you so indicate.

My position would always be that I am talking with the girl, and it is no body's business beyond that. How could there be any crime in that? Mostly police get evidence by verbal entrapment and intimidation.

Most of our local street girls come down from the East Bay, say Oakland thru Fremont.

There are lots of bus hookers, and they are nice looking. Even BART hookers. But I suspect that we have more in the local Mexican Bars. They can dress more sexy there at night time. Mostly Black.

During the day the bars can have Mexican girls, though not really dressed sexy. But the over done lipstick is highly suggestive.

Anyway, this is all harassing and busting people before their is evidence, so it is wrong.

For myself, I do treat all women as civilians, and in all situations. So I never expect them to solicit me, and I never solicit them. I learned this long ago in AMPs, where just treating them in a civilian manner usually leads to awesome GFE.

On the street you can't do that, and my involvement with street girls has always been very limited. But still I would never talk to them in any less than a civilian manner.

Need to continue to work on things here, but eventually TJ, where the street should be tremendous fun.

Thanks for the info.

I agree with nemesisk7!

If you wanna talk about the legal situation in California, consider the CASE Act, first initiative in the state's history to break 80% approval rating.

caseact.org

Even though most of it replicates existing law, or is unconstitutional, you still don't want to get anywhere near this. The 80% tells LE that they have a very strong and completely open ended mandate to enforce against crimes which are defined in only the loosest of manners.
