Lotta racists willing to be openly racist these days. But they're scared because they know they are losing power.

Also, the economy is doing great, but it's not translating to higher wages. The rich get richer, the poor don't get ahead.

    That's a pretty broad question.

There is a lot wrong with America. Where do I start?

What Larry said is true, but I would add there is a lot right with America too.

Not enough high mileage strip clubs. Every city and town needs a Follies or HiLiter equivalent.

Just think though, if there weren't any MickyD's, what would keep us from starving on the way back from clubbing?

    Keynesian economics in the Fed:

They pumped hundreds of billions of dollars into circulation, effectively causing people who have few assets to become poorer, causing inflation and bubbled asset classes (real estate, stock market, etc), thus the rich get richer, and the fed tries to fix it by "stimulating" the economy, which only results in more spending by those who shouldn't spend, and an increase in wealth in those who are wealthier than everybody else. Welfare keeps it going.

Also, America is too fat. I like thin, healthy ladies.

I don't think income inequality has much to do with Quantitative Easing. It's more about automation, which will become better known as the rise of AI in next few years. At some point we will all suffer from it's just that certain things will fall to it before other. The kind who create the AI or own stock in the companies will love it for a while, but at some point it will even be time to phase them out.

The End of History and The Last Man, right, SJG?

Congress can't get anything accomplished. They refuse to work with each other. Instead of "We The People", it's us verses them.
I love my country. It's the government I don't trust.

EVERYONE wants their view to take priority over others. Liberals and Conservatives!!!!!! What happened to being American.........Seems all want to be defined as (fill in blank) - American.

If there is so much wrong with America, why are so many struggling to come here and so few of you complainers leaving?

America is not perfect, but (in my opinion) it serves as the model that so many other countries strive to achieve.

When was the last time you heard of someone risking their lives to escape a free-market capitalist society in which they have the right to vote in fair elections and then protest the policies of the elected officials?

I understand that it is the trendy, cool thing to say America sucks, but actions don't support that assertion.

    Just saying.

Just remember that free-market capitalism is NOT the "perfect" economic system. Predictably, even coupled with democracy, it creates wide income disparity and inequality, with a relatively minuscule equity-holding class controlling nearly all real and intellectual assets. It just happens to be a better economic system than old school monarchies, dictatorship, socialism and communism.

Political correctness is out of control, the media is biased so the people do not get the whole, true story.
Plus too many people aren't paying attention to politics....they know more about the Kardashians than what's going on in the world.
  • flagooner

    @hungry.

An economic system that allows people to prosper based on intellect, risk-taking, and hard work will inherently create income disperity. What is unfair about that?

    Take your pick:
    1. Hillary Clinton is the best the democrats have to offer
    2. Donald Trump is the best the republicans have to offer
    3. Racial inequality
    4. Economic inequality
    5. Social inequality
    6. Rampant poverty
    7. Poor parenting
    8. Broken welfare system
    9. Under funded / under performing schools
    10. Broken criminal justice system
    11. Nonsense drug and prostitution laws
    12. Much of the country is too far from a decent SC

Even with all of that, I haven't seen any country that is better. God bless America despite it's imperfections.

@Random: correct. Discusses it bit before on here. The natural predilection of kids out of college seems to be to favor the tech companies or the hot fintech startups, so the old companies are either not attract much of the new talent or are forced to outbid the tech companies with some staggering offers.

Too many rules against strip clubs
    Not enough free nipples
An economy that is too slow
We need 8% GDP growth per year or our government needs to cut spending to work our way out of our terrible debt situation as a country. Neither is happening which is a recipe for a future disaster. Neither of the elected parties seems to understand or get it. Democrats don't want to cut any spending, republicans don't seem to want to increase any spending unless it's already proven to boost growth.

If elected president, I would work at legalizing sex work but it would have a ten percent national tax. I'd also attempt to legalize marijuana and add a ten percent tax to be used partially for public education on the dangers of drugs and smoking, the rest to improve government revenue.
I'd also boost infrastructure spending. Roads are full of potholes where I live.

I'd reduce government red tape and reduce corporation taxes for money brought back to the US from overseas. The US has the highest corporate tax rate which causes companies to set up shop in other countries hiring foreign workers instead of US workers here.
I'd set up reduced government spending by cutting some government departments if those job functions can be done more efficiently with less people.

I would help social security stay relevant longer by raising the income cap. I'm aware future benefits might still need to be cut but knowing how much is much better than hearing the program will be out of money in 20 or 30 years.

I'd also fix the immigration issue by deterring illegal immigration by making it cost more to come here illegally than legally. I would set up pathways to citizenship especially if studies indicate that immigrants would boost the US economy. Right now I do not know if they would or not or what effect they will have on entitlement programs. I'm thinking at least 5 years military service for a spouse, or 10 years community service or a fine of several thousand payable over 30 years and the family becomes legal assuming no felonies and that economic studies show a boost to US revenues and that the cost is higher to break the law and that legal immigrants save money.
I'd apply lean business practices to the US government to help save money and US taxpayers some taxes.

I'd want to boost jobs and US growth so much that we need immigrants to fill open jobs. I'd want suggestions on job training programs for those people without sufficient job skills and money for training.

On foreign policy I'd work with allies to boost trade and their economies as well. More trade generates more jobs in both countries. I still have hope the US and other countries can grow their economies out of our huge debt problems. Just thinking of ways to improve our country.

Oh, police reeducation programs that the use of guns and force are not acceptable unless they believe they are about to get shot or stabbed. No more pulling someone over for a minor traffic offense and an officer gets away with shooting and killing someone because they reached for their license. Every officer gets told and the public too about proper procedures whether that is to keep your hands on the steering wheel etc until asked to get the license. Police who violate procedures and kill people get fired and tried for murder.
  • sharkhunter
On guns I might defer by adding in a longer waiting period for government agencies to do proper background checks unless you are on a pre approved list that gets processed much faster. Everyone buying and selling would have to be approved to own or not on a blocked list which would include criminals, those with mental illnesses declared by doctors and suspicious persons that are not Amercians that have traveled to or contacted people with terrorist ties overseas. American families and long time residents could be preapproved to own with minimal background checks.

"The End of History and The Last Man, right, SJG?"

Dougster is the one leading the way to Ray Kurzweil's Singularity, when the human race will formally divide in two. He and the Master Class will ascend into their high rises, each with a strip club on the top floor. As for the rest of us, well, some will get assigned to mass grave digging for a while.
