  Unlike the other pervs on here I'll give a serious answer. Astroglide will work. If you go by an adult store you will find many anal lubes. KY kind of gets absorbed, but it is usable.
  
  I would use a condom. Unless she has really cleaned herself out like a porn star you will have some feces and lube. Unless you're cool with feces and lube (aka santorum) on your penis it is easier to just use the condom.
  
  Numbing lubes are available. I've *never* used a numbing lube. I don't think that numbing lubes are a good idea because she might not feel it if you do something that hurts her. Obviously, you wouldn't be numbed if you wear a condom (numbing would kind of defeat the purpose).
  
  In a pinch (perhaps ill conceived) I once used hand lotion. There was no damage done and my partner did not complain. However, we were both a little stoned at the time. Indeed, she actually suggested it when I realized we had no lube. Stoned slutty girls are great!

  Many lubes will work fine. Some of the lubes specifically for anal sex are thicker and really do work better. I like this one: http://sliquid.com/full-width/sliquid-na… I won't claim it's the best in the world, but I like it better than the standard lubes like Astroglide etc.
  
  There are other more expensive lubes that I'm sure san jose gay has lots of experience with, like Liquid Silk, Gun Oil, etc., and they may or may not work better, I dunno. But Sliquid Sassy works great IMO.

  ^^^ I should note that Sassy is water-based. Having tried some silicone-based, like Sliquid Silver or various options from Pjur, do arguably work for better and longer.. I just bias towards less obnoxious chemicals, and am guessing you won't be going for so long that you need it to last forever

  JS, we've tried a lot and after all our "research" Wet Ecstasy Silicone Lube is our favorite. Any adult store will have it and it's cheap. Under $20. Amazon has it too. Any water based or mixed lube will ALWAYS get tacky. A couple drops of Wet Ecstasy lasts for hours and is great anywhere you want to apply it.

  My best suggestion is hit the local adult store and just grab a bunch of different "pillow packs" of various lubes and try them all to see what you both like. One type may irritate her and one type may taste bad, etc.... That's how we settled on Wet.

  It's not only about the lube, which you'll have to experiment with though astroglide seems to work, but also making sure the sphincter muscle is relaxed. That means taking it slowly or starting with a finger or two.
