I am a big believer in Karma myself. And I here the new generation don't join a church. I am not judging, I don't belong to one either. With that said.. I wonder WTF did this guy do?
I don't believe anything in life has a purpose; things do not happen 'for a reason'. Shit happens and it's up to each of us to make whatever sense of it we can manage. That's the whole point IMHO.
Karma is more the denial of any higher power, denial of God. It is more based on fear and superstition. It is an inanimate law.
You know that Word-Faith school of Pentecostalism which most of the people with Trinity Broadcasting go with. That is actually a teaching based on fear and superstition. It is rooted in Eastern doctrines, like Karma, but then using the language of the Bible to promote it.
San_jose_guy: The teachings based on fear, is something I have come to acknowledge more and more. do the right thing because it is the right then. Not because you are going to be punished for not doing it.
mrrock: I think you were thinking about duck tape.
Shadowcat: In my younger in shape days I could put up a good run. Now days, well... "If I die, I die"
Lots of New Ager's talk about stuff like Karma, and other things which are really fear and superstition. But lots of Christian Fundamentalist and Evangelicals too, and the worst is the Word-Faith ( later type ) Pentecostal movement.
