I need some advice... I wanna be a camgirl!

Hey, everyone. I know it's been a long time since I've stopped through here but as I've explained to some of you so far, I'm stupid busy with work. My boyfriend and I are also in the process of moving and should (hopefully) be settled in within the next few weeks. Luckily for us, we've found a lovely little 3 bedroom abode that seems to fit us and our 3 fur-babies perfectly. He will have his own room for his computer/gaming stuff, as will I. We were joking with our landlord (he used to own the strip club I currently work at, wonderful guy) about putting a pole in my room somewhere for practice, and we got on the subject of cam modeling and streaming. I occasionally stream video games on twitch, so I have a basic understanding of the ins and outs of streaming while interacting with the audience.

What I would like to know is, does anyone have any suggestions about the best cam sites to get started on? What I really want is somewhere that has a nice bit of traffic, and provides good support for their "models". I also don't want to work for someone that takes a majority of my earnings or has a slew of crazy rules I have to follow. Ideally, I'd like to work around having to pay contractor's taxes on what I earn, seeing as I look forward to making money on my taxes every year; but I know this usually isn't the case with most of sites I've checked out so far. I want something simple and safe, as I'm sure anyone would.

Any other tips would be greatly appreciated, as this is something I'm totally ignorant to. Normal 9-5's, stripping, I know how that stuff works, but I'm excited to get myself into something new that will help me make some money along the way. I've been playing with the idea for a while now, and it's definitely something I'm going to try, given I can find the right place to start.

    I knew someone who tried camming for a while. It's very hard to find a site that will take anything like a reasonable percentage. She had some success working independently. It's a big problem that paypal refuses to work with "adult" businesses. She tried disguising the purpose of the money transfer, but somehow, paypal figured it out, and froze her account and the money in it for 6 months. She got tired of the time-wasters and being pressured to do things she didn't want to. Also, consider that someone can record you, no matter what kind of blocks you have, if they're willing to spend the time and effort. http://www.xvideos.com/?k=cam+girl . Sorry to be so discouraging.

    It's alright, I figure I don't have too much to hide, and I know there's no 100% perfect way to actually go about it. I used to teach martial arts and my boss was very uptight about me keeping dancing a secret, but since I've lost my job with him, I've developed a very "fuck it" attitude. I can't control who comes to see me in the club, I already have photos and videos of myself online (somewhere), and I have control over what I do on camera. I guess I could always dip if I start to have problems. I'm also not too worried about stalkers, seeing as I have a VPN and don't live anywhere near where my IP address says I do. *shrug* I guess we'll just have to see how this whole thing plays out.

    I've gotten to know a few girls on chaturbate and they seem to make quite a bit of money off of there even though the site does take a percentage. It basically comes down to how much you want to put into the hustle. Like using social media and building up a following. Then adding in the extras like selling photo sets, access to your snapchat, ect.

    There's also myfreecams that works the same way where instead of trying to get private sessions you are setting goals for everyone in the room to put money towards to have X happen. Where X could be anything from cum show, to just taking your clothes off whatever. Just go check out the site, sit in some of the rooms and watch how much money these guys drop in there. It's pretty ridiculous honestly lol. It almost reminds me of findom in a way where they just get off watching a girl get stoked they gave her 100 bucks for not much of any reason lol.

    There's a REASON cam sites all take a big percentage:

    * The site drives traffic through to you. (Affiliate marketing, ads, etc)
    * verified adult payment processor (this is worth 10%)
    * handle chargebacks (this is worth 5-10 % itself). This is a huge deal since many customers will do chargebacks, because, you're customers are sometimes jerks like that).

    Having the cam site promote you is like having Don King promoting you as a boxer. I'd rather use Don King and pay him 50% (we share 10 million) than use Joe Schmo and pay him 10% (we share 3 million). Sure you can go indie but you need to do all of your own marketing (Twitter, etc) to drive traffic and spending customers to you.

    Then the other guy is right. You need a payment processor who will do adult transactions. Here you are beyond the 2.9% fee. Adult transactions have higher liability, fraud, and chargebacks. So adult costs more. If you don't like it you can set up your own. I think Visa/MC will let you, but you need to pay a merchant fee of $1500 each for MC and Visa plus they take 10% or more for adult transactions. That's just the way it is.

    My only advice is: don't work for a studio. Work for a cam site. But get an affiliate link: so you can market yourself too.

    For this: you need to talk to the experts. The web cams models (cam girls) on StripperWeb.
    https://www.stripperweb.com/forum/forumd…

    You will want to try a few different sites to start. It is hard to tell on at site and with what audience you will "click with". Some to try are:

    * MyFreeCams (MFC)
    * Streamate
    * MyGirlFund (MGF)
    * LiveJasmin (LJ)
    * AdultWork.com (AW)
    * CamModelDirectory (CMD)

    Make sure you have >2Mbps internet UPLOAD, a current logitech cam, a $50 lighting out from Amazon, and a dedicated PC with a Core i5 or i7 processor.

    Expect payout to be 35%. But remember the cam site is diving traffic and paying customers to you (50%), doing adult payment processing, and handling charge backs(both worth 15%). Expect to earn/clear $1000-2000 a week (your 35% cut), if you keep a regular schedule and work at it. They also give you an affiliate link (direct link ) that you can market yourself on Twitter and the payout rises to 70%, I believe. Streamate has this. Use his to market your regulars, like you would in stripping / dancing. Also things like thongs, panties, and dildos are tax deductible and you can sell used ones / worn out ones to your customers $$ on ManyVids.com.

    Other sites from time to time try to up the payment percentage (like 75% or so) but they either fuck up the adult processor or they never have traffic or all the customers are freeloaders who don't spend.

    Good luck!

    I forgot about chaturbate. That's a good one. I use streamate and livejasmin, myself. But normally I spend money in the strip club. There's just no replacement for a live woman grinding on you. But cam has its place too

    Go to Stripperweb

    They have a whole fucking section on it

    That should have read $50 dollar lighting kit from Amazon. Like with photography, a good lighting kit in a dedicated room makes all the difference when on cam. You will look better and your sales will be better.

    If you want a higher payout (>50%) you need an affiliate link on a cam site, then drive your own traffic. Or use an indie site like CMD or do Skype shows. But you need to market yourself on those to drive traffic

    Like motorhead said, StripperWeb is the place to learn this. They have an active camming sub-forum.

    I've known a few strippers who did web caming, and I get the feeling that competition has decreased the amount of money you can make. A few years ago dancers could make some good money. A stripper friend recently looked into it, and decided not to because of the large fee going to the cam site.

    Well I don't think anyone can add more to what dominic77 said.

    I used to date a cam model and she was pretty successful. She was extremely attractive. The biggest part of her being successful was she was online a minimum of 8 hours a day 5 days a week. Often she would average out to 8 hours a day 7 days a week.

    She had a lot of success working odd hours. She would log on at 5am and work until the afternoon. A lot of her customers were people who worked midnight shift jobs and their 5 o'clock quitting time was really 6 or 7am in the morning.

    Shailynn you sell yourself short. My posts are just the nuts and bolts. I leftmost hustle tips and how to actually make money.

    OP you might consider being on cam 7PM - 12AM. I think that is prime time for many reasons the regular customers, 5 days a week. Me, when I cam, I tend to go on at 4AM or 5 AM and my pickings are slim since less models are online then. One time I caught a Romanian woman (eastern Europe) and one time I caught a eat coast girl (3 time zones away from me). Both were eager to please and I took them private for 1-on-1 session for 10 minutes.

    Don't count on any money from me. I have not and will not waste my money on any cam site.

    ^It does pale in comparison to a strip club or any real life interaction with a dancer. I will give you that.

    Yes, you go for it, but I'm not interested in paying money for webcaming, not when even here we at least have no touching strip clubs.

    What I do like to do and expect to be doing much more of is photographing girls as they model lingerie, and show their everything of course. But those are never just taking pictures.

    Let other people enjoy the pictures, and I know how to compose them and supply the girl with the right stuff to wear.

    But I want to be with the girl and spend real time with her.

    I never spent a dime watching any of the cams but when I want to see some entertainment, I might visit myfreecams or livjasmin. Dominic might describe his knowledge as nuts and bolts but he sounds like an expert compared to what I know. I thought about getting a free account on one site to get rid of the constant banner that blacks the view saying get 9.99 in free credits or tokens. I never did bother signing up for a free registered account. Cam girls don't seem as exciting as going to a strip club and seeing hot girls. I guess the guys spending money get a lot more out of watching than I do.

    sharkhunter --> "I guess the guys spending money get a lot more out of watching than I do." --> end quote sharkhunter

    Pretty much.
    When you are in free chat, it's mostly tame and boring. I just use it to quickly see if the woman is attractive enough. I'm in free chat for less than a minute then it's on to the next model, if I don't click. This is like JS69 MILF sex.
    When you take them exclusive / 1-on-1 / true-private for $5-10/min, they really get their freak on and their personality wakes up. Usually figure a 10-15 minute session, with tip, will run you $100. It's kind of expensive for interactive porn, but since free chat is such a waste, you pretty much have to spend some to get some. This is like JS69 DS sex.

    If you're not going to pay to go true private, you might was well just watch free porn on pornhub.com

    Part of the fun for me, is spending the first 2 minutes just talking to the woman, telling her what I want out of the show. I like the interaction between me and the girl. It sort of mimics what I do with dancers in the front room of SCs, except you can't touch them, and it costs a LOT MORE per minute. The women also get a real rush from me, since I take them provide after 30 seconds, basically upstaging an entire room of freeloaders. It like I'm freeing her (temporarily) from her troll audience. It helps to motivate her. win-win. As you can tell, I like the social aspect as much as I like to see her strip, rub her body and display it, then shoves dildos in her vagina. God bless the U.S.A.

    :)

    If anyone can tell you how to try and make money sitting on your ass behind a computer at home and not have to actually physically interact with customers it's the SW crowd. If some people can make money at it then good for them.

    web cam girls... nice to look at. but my likes is face to face engagement far more than just visual. can't compare with a real girl in the flesh.

    I am of this generation. But I am with Shadowcat on this one. I am not spending a dumb buck for cam shows. I tried niteflirt though (pure 1-1 phone call) and it's also a waste of money.

    It still boggles my mind people still use cam sites instead of just going to the strip club or even just watching porn
