Supply of Dancers ?

Here in South Florida; over the last 2 years or so I have seen some nice clubs open and never really get off the ground – i.e. they seemed not to be able to attract enough good dancers and thus not many custies; and thus the death spiral. In my limited mind; I would think a nice club being the newest thing in town would attract dancers either new or from other clubs. When I see the scenario of nice clubs not being able to attract good dancers I wonder if there are just not enough decent to good dancers to go around; or what the deal is? Have you noticed any nice clubs in your area not being able to get liftoff per se and not be able to attract dancers and thus pretty much fizzle out? I could understand if the club was a shithole; but I’m talking about nice new and fairly upscale clubs.

I think getting the right girls is the main thing. Show up on time, not rude, not lazy, not high or drunk. This is what a good club wants.

The newest Atlanta area club is "Rumors". I did the first review of it 3 weeks ago. There have been 2 more reviews since then and the club still has not attracted enough good dancers to pay the light bill. The reason? Dancers are going to go where they can make the most money. Rumors is actually located in the City of Forest Park. The club is not allowed to have private dance rooms which puts them at a big disadvantage with the other 40+ clubs in the area that do. Further more the city is watching them like a hawk, so table dances are tame. I doubt that they will last a year.

^ the clubs I'm talking about in my area do not have the zone type issues you refer to though.

Papi, I wonder if there is just an under supply of dancers. Could be that there are just not that many women that should or are willing to do the work.

^ Yeah clubber – I’m sure that is def part of the equation. For one; women that are good looking enough to be strippers are probably the minority of the female population – and then out of that minority ones that are willing to be strippers is even more of a minority – so yeah – it may be a kinda small pool to begin with.

Doll House here in Atlanta fits your description exactly. Nice club.... Freakin candles on the tables! - but they can't put anything above a 5 on stage.

I've seen this in my area. What seems to happen is that high-end clubs open, a lot of dancers flock to them, but business plummets when customers decide they prefer the bargain price dances at their regular clubs. When business is down, the dancers leave. A decade ago a Christies club opened near me that would fit right in in Vegas. Beautiful place. They suffered for years with poor business, few customers and girls who wouldn't have made the B team at some dive bars. Eventually, the club changed ownerships. They managed to turn things around by allowing a lot more contact, a risky proposition since most of the high-end place offer air dances to avoid problems with the cops. On a related note, I've noticed a serious decline in talent over the years in the other, lower-end clubs that used to attract a lot of hot women. I have to believe there just aren't as many women willing and wanting to work as strippers. I'm not sure why.

I've noticed that too Papi, and I think we're probably talking about some of the same clubs. Personally, I think its clubs not matching the general clientele of the area and/or not being able to compete with established clubs for customers. The couple clubs I'm thinking of that recently failed were trying to be high class in working class area's, specifically Pink Pony in Pompano & Vivid Live in Hialeah. At the same time, Monroe's in West Palm and Cheetah in Hallandale both match the expectations of their clientele and seem to be doing well. In all honesty, I think its harder to attract guys & I think that's what clubs are trying to do. Strippers are easy to manipulate & hard to fool. If the girls at your club are making money they'll show up, you can't fool them though, if they have a few shitty shifts they'll go right the fuck back where they were. Its a bit of a chicken and egg problem though, I'll give you that.

Papi/Dolfan, We are all in the same basic area. Just think about the clubs we have. There are those that are rock solid, those that get by, those that are struggling, and those that always seem to fail. Seems the same locations stay at whatever level they are, for the most part. Supports Dolfan's theory of "matching".

Never been to Monroes and most of the reviews I’ve read say the clubs is nice but often not very busy or very many dancers.

Sometimes, if you're a dancer's good regular, you MIGHT find out what's really going on at a club. Otherwise, there's a lot that a custy is not going to know.

Papi: I think that opening an upscale club is good, but at the end of the day, the services have to be provided. Guys will pay for high admission, high drink prices, etc, but "extras" have to be readily available. If guys pay a lot of upfront costs, but there is no guarantee of a rainbow at the end of the day, the guys will flock back to the dive clubs, where "extras" are readily available. The girls follow the money. Cash rules! No matter how beautiful is the club, if the girls are not making money, they will skip to a dive club where money is made. New girls are entering the stripclub circuit each day, but they follow the money. Also, there are other "adult options" out there, like escorts, agencies, etc. There are some strippers that I know that move back and forth between the different options.

I wonder if new clubs sometimes try to recoup their investment too quickly.

There is no shortage of new dancers. Just about every familiar club I go to has a bunch of new girls every time I visit.

Dancers are always cautious about new clubs especially if they make decent money in their home club. Also, sometimes when new club opens, managers threaten to girls :"If you leave to work there, don't bother to come back!". And yeah, nowadays there are just not enough quality-strippers for current amount of clubs hence sometimes we see dancing whales, druggies and slobs.

Yep, I figure a stripper who is making even adequate money at her current club, and remotely happy with management is taking a big risk going somewhere else, for potentially less money, worse management, and potentially getting blackballed. Maybe the chains have an advantage here -- when Deja Vu opened Penthouse, they borrowed hot girls from their other clubs in the city, and shipped in girls from LA, etc. as well. The club is a failure anyway, considering the investment they put into it, but in hindsight the concept for the club was a bad idea

I think it's basic human nature if you are doing ok don't rock the boat I personally feel that the new clubs need to market themselves to the girls and let the girls market to the guys

Dancer95 makes a good point. Papi, you have lived in Dallas so you are very familiar with the Northwest Hwy strip club corridor. Bucks opened there more than a year ago. The place is spanking brand new. Built from the ground up. Huge parking lot. They have drink specials going on all day, everyday , except for Friday and Saturday. I am talking about $1 domestics/$2 import beer. The only time it's popping is on Tuesday when the special is $2 mixed drinks. There are more hot dancers there on Tuesday but they come from other clubs. The rest of the days, it's just the plain jane home crew. Baby Dolls, down the road only has drink specials the third Wednesday of every month. All the dancers want to work there because it's busier and the clientele tends to be white collar.

Yeah – I keep up w/ the Dallas reviews and had read a few about Buck's Dallas and its woes. I guess dancers are hesitant to work in a club w/o an established customer base especially if there are other established clubs in the area – no dancers equals no custies and not custies equals no dancers.
