***Scores Detroit*** opening soon

Does anyone plan on visiting the new Scores bar opening this month? It's been in the works for some time now.

This, along with the bar re-opening in ROMULUS, should provide additional options for Detroit area clubbers. There's only one consistently good club, and the handful of decent clubs are TOO hit or miss.

There better be some real talent in there if they want to make it. If, after the initial excitment, this club reverts to the lazy, boring dancers that are the mainstay of Detroit clubs, it will fade into mediocrity.

I had heard something about Scores opening, but I think I'll wait to read some reviews before I go. The Penthouse, Flight Club, and several other clubs provide all the entertainment I desire.

Jackslash is the kind of upscale guy Scores needs to recruit. It looks like it will be a hard sell.

I agree--Detroit simply cannot support all of these high-end clubs. Flight Club already has issues keeping customers, and it won't be long before Penthouse goes the way of Hustler.

Only time will tell, but I'll check it out the first week or so just to see if management knows how to compete. If it's lame or the girls are trying to charge asinine prices or the bar is trying to charge asinine prices, I'll just split and head to coli or players.

You guys don't get it. Cities like Detroit are great for the strip club industry because of all the unemployed/underemployed PLs. Not to mention the alcoholism and mentally unstable guys who blow everything they have. Rich guys believe that you should pay attention to them because they are simply rich/well-educated. Remember that 1 poor guy with $100 in his pocket and is willing to spend it, is worth more than a roomful of rich customers that think they are too cool to pay for sex.

Toddq,

Which one are you? The rich guy who's too good to pay for it or the guy with $100 in his pocket?

I live in metro Detroit and frequent the club's here. I can assure you that I am neither rich nor an "unemployed/underemployed PL." I guess I must be the exception to your overly simplistic school of thought.

^^^ I don't think toddq ever said there was no middle ground, and customers only came in two varieties.

Besides. Rich guys pay for pussy all the time. Senators, celebrities, executives. Christ, who r you kidding to say that rich guys don't pay for it?

I know a handful of metro Detroit doctors that just took 10 strippers from 3 different local clubs to Vegas for 4 days. Those bitches BANKED!!!

There have been two clubs open in my area (Miami) this year and neither of them seem to be doing very well. One can be considered a dive but looks very nice inside and everything is brand new inside and out; the other is a very (perhaps too) upscale club and it is also struggling. Both clubs seem to have trouble attracting dancers and so it seems the vicious cycle of no dancers means no PLs and no PLs means no dancers, cycle is in effect.

There is no shortage of clubs in Miami – so maybe a club in an area with few players may have a chance.

Scores does have name recognition going for it and it may be well managed meaning it may attract dancers and custies; but the recent track record of new clubs has not been good IME.

Also – new clubs often tend to be more on the straight and narrow when it comes to not bending the rules – so this may also work against them when competing w/ other established clubs.

This comment holds more true in Detroit than other cities around the United States considering what's available at most of the other clubs in Detroit.

Read a great review by Electronman about the Hustler Club

https://www.tuscl.net/rev.php?M=C&RID=17…

My intuition tells me similar reviews will be written about Scores.

Sad in a way. We're predicting gloom and doom before it even opens.

I am in the detroit area and missed this news. What club in Romulus? Is it the old dolls place. And where is the Scores opening? I will go just to see if anybody has an idea about what to change in this business. One drink is a small price to pay to have my curiousity satisfied.

The original rumor was this club was supposed to be Spearmint Rhino.

As for Scores, I can see where this club will be the hot spot for the first 2-3 months and will drop off. The question will be if the can operate after the drop-off? It's approx. 1 mile from The Coliseum and a couple miles from Players (not to mention the barber shop where illegal gambling lead to a shooting with 3 killed last week).

The club in Romulus is the old Playhouse reopening under new ownership and management. They are doing a number on it by the Facebook and Twitter pics. The old awning outside is gone, the stage is being replaced, no smoking inside, but will have a heated smoking area outside, away from the main entrance, scheduled to open this month.

Any info when Scores will open?

Where is Scores. And for you who think Detroit is so bad off. With the Auto sales up, it's much better. and the suburbs are doing well. the city of Detroit is not.

Here's a Craigslist ad for Scores that shows where it's located on Eight Mile. This might give some idea when it could open and enticements for the dancers. Awhile ago they said they would open in November.

According to this bit of info, it may not even be owned by Scores Holdings. The May have just allowed use of the name for a nominal fee.

Scores Holding Company, Inc. (Scores) is in the business of licensing the Scores trademarks and other intellectual property to fine gentlemen’s nightclubs with adult entertainment in the United States. These clubs feature topless female entertainers together with opportunities for watching sporting events, celebrating business transactions and private parties. As of December 31, 2008, the Company had three clubs operating under the Scores name, in Baltimore, Chicago, and New Orleans. Scores Baltimore has been awarded best strip club by Baltimore city paper for 2008, 2009, and 2010. On January 27, 2009, the Company entered into a licensing agreement with I.M. Operating LLC (IMO) for the use of the Scores brand name.

True, the American auto industry is on the upswing. But, with globalization and foreign competition, it will never be the sole economic force that will rebuild Detroit. Detroit has a new mayor, interestingly, the first mayor in 40 years who is not African American.

Perhaps this is a good time to re-invent Detroit and broaden its economic base. Vegas has made bank on casinos, hotels and strip clubs. Could Detroit capitalize on its already liberal strip club scene and pass some adult entertainment laws (e.g, legalize and control prostitution) that would make it a destination for adult entertainment fans? If so, the section of 8 mile road with the new Scores and the existing Coliseum, Players and Tycoons are all located might be a good starting point (although a more centrally located entertainment district would be even better).

Someone on Two Sheds with reliable information said the owner was local.
Wouldn't think it would be the Penthouse owner since it would be competing with another of his clubs, Coliseum. A couple years back the Penthouse owner almost bought Trumpps on Eight Mile and talk was that he would use the Score's name.
