I believe that a shit ton is generally the equivalent of 2.5 imperial tons or 5,000 pounds where as a shit load is the equal to the amount of cow shit that will fill a standard sized bed of a full sized American made pickup truck which happens to be 652 pounds (if the manure is fresh) so the difference between a shit ton and a shit load is therefore 4,348 pounds of shit. Which is not to be confused with the phrase "go pound shit" FWIW.
