LOL. How many of you have ever been denied entry into a strip club.I live in LOS ANGELES . This happened to me last night.(MoN) This is funny to me . Manager gives me a story about club only for private party tonight....but, verified info was incorrect with contacts inside the club, found out it was a total lie. LOL Manager actually puts jealousy over money?
On Dec 23, 2010 I visited Thee Whiskey Tavern in Columbia SC.
I intended to be the first TUSCLer to review this club but it was not to happen. I will tell you what I experienced.
The club is actually located in a run down motel. There was a lighted sign on the street but once in the parking lot the entrance was hard to find. Just a small sign with an arrow that you could NOT see from a car. The were only about 5 cars in the parking lot.
I walked up to the entrance. It was a metal door with a notice taped to it that read. "Be prepared to show your membership card and have your ID ready". The instructions said to ring the bell for entrance. I did and was buzzed into a lobby. I asked the door girl what kind of club this was. She said that it was a gentlemens club and was for members only. While I was talking I noticed signs "No smoking", "2 drink minimum" and "NO TOUCHING".
She said that a membership card was $5/year. I was ready to take one for the team. $5 ain't nothing. I was curious. Then she said there is a problem. "your attire does not meet our dress code" I was wearing sweats and tennis shoes. I thanked her and said there were plenty of other clubs to go to.
How were you dressed? Were you drunk, or "behaving badly?" Did you fail a "pat-down" test? If you'll mention which club in L.A. you're referring to, you might get some helpful answers. Otherwise, the responses will be generic.
The only case where I've actually seen anyone get denied admission to a strip club is if a woman or group of women were unescorted. The theories being: (A) They're a safety risk because of potentially unruly male customers, or (B) They're prostitutes looking for customers.
I remember trying to go to cheetah's gentleman club sometime late last year. Was denied entry because my attire wasn't dress uppy enough (I'm not a fan of the slacks and long sleeved button up). Yet I see older gentlemen waltzing in barely hitting the dress up point almost overlapping the line between dress up and urban. Sucks too because I was ready to blow some serious cash. I think it was because they could see I was young (though many people like to give me a 25+ age line when they see me).
Was denied entrance once about 10 years ago at Baby Dolls Dallas b/c I was wearing a shirt that did not have a collar. Had been to BDs a couple of times before that and many times after dressing the same type of way and went in w/ no issues. It was a busy Sat. night and the place was packed – I guess the douchebag bouncer/club decided they only wanted a certain type of clientele that night (older guys who looked like they had had $$$) and used my collarless shirt as the excuse not to let me in to the packed club.
Well I club in LA and I'm female and I have never been denied admission anywhere ( Club_Goer- the whole "female needing a male escort" thing doesn't happen here in LA).
You should name the club if you want a more specific answer.
Never during normal business hours. Some years back, about a week or 2 before Xmas,a smallish Columbus OH club was having a xmas party for employees only. Otherwise, no problems.
Regular nightclub doormen can be bigger dickheads- I've been turned away by some nightclubs in the past for wearing non-dress shoes (running shoes), and once for wearing a plain leather jacket.
If I think a potential strip club is of the upscale genre, I've just gone ahead and worn dress shoes. (Thank you, Rockport).
@ lopaw: I was speaking in general terms. But, I actually did observe that once, here in the Puget Sound Region. At (then) Fox's in Parkland (south of Tacoma), a group of three twenty-ish girls were going into the club. I was a long distance behind them. As I got close to the door, I saw all three come out with disgusted looks on their faces. Since I was the first one they encountered, the told me they had been denied entrance, and specifically asked me if there was a lesbian strip club in the area. I told them I'd never heard of such a thing. I referred them to the next nearest strip club, two miles away. It was run by a different company. I don't know if they went or if so, were admitted.
Never for me. That said, in recent years I often visit in my biker persona. Never had a problem with that, other than a little more "detailed" pat down.
I would never wish to enter a club were I could not be myself, IE: "my attire wasn't dress uppy enough".
@motorhead - Detroit? No thanks! I'm glad I live here in the wild west. I couldn't imagine living anywhere else. I've clubbed up and down the west coast, Vegas, Portland, Seattle, etc etc and also in Hawaii, and have never been denied admittance. I'm curious as to the circumstances that the OP experienced.
Nah im a dude. This particuliar club (NICOLAS) is located in the EAST L.A./Commerce area. Its just a topless dive bar in a hardcore part of town.Where we go to drink beer and look at women.(Mostly Latina) take off thier tops off and grind thier georgeous bodies. Day manager he's cool. Night manager Russian/Armenian dude not quite sure about him.Watches me like a hawk. Doesn't like girls spending too much time with one customer.
I was once asked if I had a shirt with a collar on it I could change into. I happened to have one in my car. I rarely do.
One time I attempted to visit a strip club with two females. I knew one girl was a dancer from out of town, near me of course. Anyway there was some kind of problem with their ID's. I wasn't sure what the issue was but then I found out they didn't really want to visit a strip club in the first place. We proceeded to party in a regular night club, no problem with an id at any of the regular night clubs. The girls stayed with me like glue. One of them said, ok let's agree no crap and we all stay together. I drove and we were about 3 hours away from home.
Yes, I was recently denied entrance to STARZ in the LA area because my stretch pants didn't have a zipper, only a velcro strip. The new security guard did this. The old one was there and had an amused look on his face. The girls, of course, who knew I was coming in to cum were disappointed.
Once, about five years ago I was thrown out of JETSTRIP for jacking off near the stage; the idiot waitress told on me. When the waitress is also a sometime dancer, they don't care.
When you're with a dancer in her off time, you might find out the last place she wants to visit is another strip club. I suspect the problem with the id might not have been a problem if they really wanted to visit the strip club with me. I think I had just as much fun in the regular clubs.
Nicola's? Dang. That's a rough club in a rough area. I knew a dancer who tried that place out and she lasted all of one day - the other dancers scared her off. I'm not surprised that there would be all kinds of issues there. Some managers don't know how to deal with the folks who hang out in that club, and then shit goes down and the club starts getting some unwanted attention from LE. Unfortunately there are no other clubs really nearby...it's kind of in a stripclub no-man's land.
When I still lived in the Chicago area, the first time I tried going to Heavenly Bodies, I got denied because I didn't have a dress shirt on. I eventually went back another time in a dress shirt, only to discover it was a very disappointing club.
Another club I got denied entry into, at least at first, was the Minx Showpalace in Des Moines. I made the mistake of wearing a hoodie (it was uncommonly chilly for August that particular day), but since I had a t-shirt on underneath as I always do when I wear a hoodie, I just took the hoodie off and they were all right with that.
Other than that, it happened at clubs where you had to buy a membership to get in. I'm not going to pay for a membership to a club where I have to wait for a membership card. These places were all in Kansas and I wonder if that has to do with their bizarre alcohol laws there.
I have never been denied access to a club, including membership clubs. Of course, more times than not I am dressed for success. ;)
I remember reading stories about Paradise (Lawrence, KS) turning away people, but a buddy and I had no problem getting in on our first visit a few years ago. They took our IDs and processed everything before we finished our first drink at the bar.
I was denied entry twice once in Cleveland once at Christies, for wearing shorts and once Model Tease for wearing sweats. Also once in Columbus, due to an idiot bouncer at the door who was being a prick. When one of the dancers on my next visit asked why she hadn't seen me the last time, she told the manager who gave me a the three song dance for my troubles.
I tried visiting the Chapeau Vert, a hole in the wall in Detroit, about a year ago when I was between vehicles. I'd ridden the bus from the US Passport office downtown and thought I'd get a couple of cold beers and lappers. When I walked up to the bar I had a small briefcase and she told me I would have to leave it in my car. I informed her that I wasn't driving and was not about to leave my paperwork from the passport office outside, she told me I would have to leave. I offered both her and the DJ/dayshift bouncer a generous tip to leave it behind the bar or at the DJ station, but they were pretty adamant and rude about it. I tipped the semi-cute chunky MILF on stage a dollar and left... with over 300 in cash in my pocket, caught the bus and went home.
Post script is that I saw the same MILF dancing at Club Venus this week and went in the back with her a very hands on dance with CFS finish, and when I mentioned seeing her at the Vert 11 months earlier she had her own horror stories about how that club was run... go figure.
Wow, I've never heard of, and can't imagine, being asked to leave Chapeau Vert! That place is the very bottom of the barrel. Very strange they wouldn't store the briefcase for a generous tip, they'll do pretty much anything in that place for a generous tip.

I know the Flight Club near the Detroit airport denies women (without a male escort) entrance.
lopaw - be glad you don't live in Detroit

Maybe he had on an sc shirt.
I don't dress nice for the TB's. I wear THE UNIFORM (like Doug & Shadow described)!
I don't get denied. ACCESS is always GRANTED (in more ways than 2).
