Have you noticed no one even really talks about herpes these days? It used to be the BIG thing to avoid.

Either way, HSV has been downplayed and most aren’t stressing over it anymore.

I did a STI test this past month and when I received the results and noticed HSV missing was told it wasn’t part of the normal set of test to run.

Obviously, all places are different - I know stdcheck.com does HSV as part of their 10 panel test, but you’re paying anonymous and I think the reason they do it is to get extra money on those that freak out about being positive for HSV and want further consultation.

^ Either way, it’s being downplayed - no media coverage, no medication commercials on tv, etc.

Regarding HPV - is the vaccination for that good enough that the medical community just recommends you get the shot, and then doesn't worry about it?

There are two types of herpes. Herpes 1 is known as oral herpes and is very common. It’s associated with cold sores. Genital herpes is type 2 and it’s pretty common but less so.

FYI you really don’t want the blood test as part of a blood panel. It has a huge false positive rate and there is a confirmation test that costs like 500 bucks. Honestly I would only get treatment for it if you actually had repetitive problematic symptoms. Most people’s immune system can control it without outbreaks after an initial outbreak which is why so many people don’t know they have it.

So yeah watch for outbreaks and take a break if you have one. You don’t want it but it’s not THAT big deal f a deal. Now if you like raw dogging strippers I highly recommend PREP to take HIV out of the equation. It’s rare obviously but that’s the bad ones. Others you should get tested regularly and treat promptly. I’ve only had one and it was actually from going down on a stripper most likely and I had a throat infection. Antibiotics cleared it up though so not a big deal.
