Little Rock Teacher Resigns After Pleading Guilty to Prostitution

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – A high school teacher in Little Rock has resigned after school officials learned she pleaded guilty in November to a prostitution charge.
McClellan High School algebra teacher Solona Islam, who had been put on paid administrative leave, told Fox16.com she resigned because she didn't want to have the school district involved in her personal matters.
The 27-year-old was arrested Oct. 29 on misdemeanor charges of prostitution and operating a business without a license but Police Sgt. Cassandra Davis said the school district was not notified because the charge was not a felony.
Islam said she was desperate for money and originally thought she was just going to work for a dating service. She pleaded guilty on Nov. 5 and was given a suspended 90-day sentence and a $640 fine.
School officials told the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette that they finally learned of the plea from a reporter and suspended Islam on Wednesday.
Islam, who was in the fifth year of her teacher career, told Fox16.com that she hopes this attention doesn't affect her ability to find another job.

    amazing we dont value our teachers who guide children and the next generation to pay them enough for their troubles no wonder this country is going to hell. although i would luv 4 her to be my teacher and i fuk her for an A+

    In NJ, the asshole governor thinks they make too much money. He wants them to pay more into their pensions, even though the state has not put their part in for years. He wants them to pay more for their health care. All this, when they have negotiated contracts already in place.

    Yeah, because someone who uses her body to directly secure her economic independence is unqualified to teach our children, but someone who does so indirectly, by marriage or guile, is eminently qualified to do so.

    And they wonder why kids coming out of school are fucked up.

    Those teachers in Wisconsin, among other things, want Viagra put back in their medical insurance coverage. I guess so that they can do it again and again.

    is it me, or does anyone else notice how often it's a Fox station that carries stories like this (see the thread about "expose" in Cleveland)? states are getting the pinch. on the one side they've got the folks who've been convinced any tax is "taken" from them. on the other side, they've got people who would like to make enough to actually live while working for the state. a no-win situation, and I don't see it getting better anytime soon unfortunately.

    santiago, the tv station that did the cleveland expose is cbs, not fox.

    back to the teacher story, last summer i was out on the hustler club patio having a smoke and this cute little latina dancer comes out and asks if she could sit with me because she was hiding from her college professor and his wife who she had seen walking into the club.
