Atlanta Stip Club Capital

Saturday, October 16, 2010 5:18 PM
I read often on internet that Atlanta is stip club capital of the world or Atanta is famous for stip clubs. But those who live here in Atlanta, they know it very well how it sucks here in Atlanta and infact Atlanta is now air dance capitol of the world. I guess major changed happened around 96 olympics. Does anyone know how stip club scene was like in Atlanta before 1996 ? Did they had full contact lap dance like Carolina, Vegas etc ? Were people driving to Atlanta from other states like we drive to other states now ?

Also here on TUSCL under "top destinations" in the right hand column Atlanta is listed as a top destination. I don't think I would travel very far to go there but if I was driving through the city, I would check out Follies based off the good things I have read on here.

I moved to Atlanta in 1987. Back then the clubs were more wide open, publicly. Table dances had a lot of two way contact. The city and suburbs started a clean up campaign prior to the Olympics. The old Stewart Ave was famous for strip club extras and hundreds of street walkers. It was renamed Metropolitan Way. The top destination category is based on total number of reviews. With 43 clubs listed, Atlanta generates a lot of reviews. Things seem to be changing in Atlanta. Follies is a good example. It probably has more recent reviews that any other club listed on TUSCL. I counted 20 reviews in a 30 day period.See my article on the Follies. $10 Table dances are getting better in most clubs but the real action is in the VIP rooms. I have gotten FS on both of my last two visits to Atlanta clubs. Follies and Goldrush. The cost of VIP trips varies. My two trip were in the $150 range for 30 minutes, including the dancer. However prices are a lot higher in other clubs. Columbia Platinum Plus is still my favorite club but is dropping in the ratings. It has been as high as #3 on the top 10 but has now dropped to #13. Success has spoiled the club. Now there are too many girls asking too high prices. Especially after 6PM. But it is keeping Columbia in the 10 top destination because of the number of reviews it has gotten. I still have a blast every time I go there because I am well known among the day shift dancers. I will continue my trips there. Next one is sked for Oct 21-23 and I already have lunch dates with gridget for the 22nd & 23rd.

I have heard this stupid rap song played in strip clubs several years ago Welcome to Atlanta (remix) [uncensored] [view link]

Doesn't the infamous Gold Club figure into it somehow? I would think if something like that happened, the city fathers would crack down hard. I don't remember when that happened, though, so my timeframe might be off on that, but I thought that was about the time of the 1996 Olympics.

"Also here on TUSCL under 'top destinations' in the right hand column Atlanta is listed as a top destination." Isn't that list just generated based on the number of reviews? Sure, I can understand why some would want to go to Las Vegas or Baltimore (the Block) based on the sheer number of strip clubs there. Also, I can see (from what I've heard about the strip clubs in these locations) why some would want to go to Dallas, Houston, Tampa, Tijuana, and Detroit, but come on...Columbia, SC?? That's all about people shilling for the PP, period.

I'm worried that all the buzz around Follies is going to have the same results as Shadowcat details for PP above. You already see it in reviews. Management gets pressure to "clean up" the reputation, clubs get over crowded, too many people start to talk. I'm glad they are doing well, but do they really need 20 reviews in 30 days? I've seen great clubs ruined when "word got out". Am I wrong here? Thoughts?

Freaknik was a popular party event for blacks back in the 90s. It started getting cleaned up around 1996 and was dead by 1999. Now in 2010 the mayor has banned all related events to it.

I went to the 96 olympics just after the bombing. I still had a great time though I didn't get a chance to check out the clubs. There were soooo many beautiful women walking around Atlanta that it just didn't enter my mind to go PAY for dances. Though I did waste some money on stupid pins.

I would say Houston is the strip club capital, especially with extras friendly clubs all over the area.

Player11, that may be true but also I think Detroit is a great place. Not to mention that it is right next to Windsor where it is legal to hire escorts so you get the best of both OTC (windsor) and ITC (detroit)

Economist Donald Ratajczak of Georgia State University’s Economic Forecasting Center maintains that even a conservative estimate of the economic impact of such clubs translates to a staggering $200-$240 million, which is more than the economic impact of the Braves, Hawks and Falcons combined.

"Impact" could be good or bad. Is the economist saying that clubs bring in that kind of money, or that they block it, or worse, drain it?

According to dancers...they made nothing last night and could use some of us to buy dances so they'll be able to pay their rent.
