The Wrestler

Wednesday, December 30, 2009 2:28 PM
Watched The Wrestler the other night. Decent movie, can see why it received critical acclaim. Love movies with that have some stripper/SC component. I thought this was a pretty good portrayal and Marisa Tomei was awesome (and incredibly hot for 44 yrs old -- I would have bought a dance from her). Good example showing dancer in club and out the next day in street clothes (no makeup, etc). Although I'm not sure I would have paid $60 + tip for that little VIP experience where "Randy" just talked to her (after kicking out the young guys). And we all know many strippers are also moms -- although in real life many seem to offer this information up front, despite that it's a turn off. The funny thing is seeing the SC in the movie made me want to plan my next visit. Nothing better than having a drink with naked girls around.

BTW, speaking of movies, I saw Chris Rock's "I Think I Love My Wife" a few weeks ago. When they start throwing $1 singles out the window, he complains that it's his "Stripper Stash". I used to only include $20s in my personal stripper stash (married, avoid large withdrawals, etc), but have now started singles too. Makes it easy to grab 20-30 $1s when headed the club, no need to get change! Always felt weird asking for $20 singles for $20 at the gas station down the road from the strip club. :)

I rented the Wrestler movie from the redbox kiosko for $1 when it first came out on dvd. I was mostly interested in it because I heard strippers were invovled in it. I downloaded the Chris Rock movie only because I know chris rock is a strip club patron and has several good jokes about strip clubs. The chris rock movie was not available in redbox or else I would have rented that as well. I prefer just renting the dvd for $1...but if they don't have it then it is less of a hassle to search and download it than deal with hunting it down at blockbuster. Netflix is another good option for movie rentals but I have not yet subscribed.

Good movie, Marissa Tomei played a good role. I am sure we've all known girls similiar to what she portrayed.

Eh, I didn't think she looked that good...Of course, I've heard her interviewed and she can cop quite an attitude. I guess it's no different to me if it's a stripper or a woman acting like a stripper. Bad attitudes turn me off. I think strippers with kids are always a bit torn about whether to keep it quiet since it can be a turn-off or talking about it to try and get more money out of guys since they have a kid to support.

I think having kids is not a turn off but still having the scars from having kids is.

Marissa fit the part, she wasn't supposed to be that hot.

I haven't seen the movie yet. But I am downloading it now. Good connection 280kb/s. Give it another 30 mins.

"The Wrestler" is the only movie I ever went to the local art house movie theater to see and it's great. It did for Mickey Rourke what Pulp Fiction did for Travolta. And the wrestling is realistic, too.

Marisa is my "ATF" and her close up pic contantly smiles at me on my laptop. Fortunate to meet her briefly in 2004. Overall, The Wrestler was well-received by the critics. See: [view link] I wouldn't have payed any attention to it without her role tho.

Here is an interview with Marisa: [view link] There are also some clips from the movie with her in it. Like when he asks her out for a beer, etc. I thought it was a great movie but I am biased because I was a wrestling fan and strip club patron.

Got to check this out. Two of my favorites, together. Difficult to believe I'd not heard of it, but then I am not normally a movie person, other then catching them when they are on the satellite.

There's an old movie I'm a big fan of called "Perversion Story" by Lucio Fulci. It's Italian mystery/thriller (called a "giallo") dubbed into English, but it's set in San Francisco. One of the main characters is a stripper and it has a lot about strip club culture in it. OTC extras, stalker PL's, girls doing porno on the side, etc. It's worth checking out it you're a fan of the whole grindhouse movie genre.

"The Wrestler" is on HBO, I think it was, 1/3/10. DVR is all set for it!

A stripper up in Canada once asked me if she could take a cell call from her 11 yo daughter. I said I didn't mind and I didn't. Funny thing is it was during a private dance. Hey, they're human too. As to art house movies the only movies I've seen there was the ultimate double feature - "Deep Throat" and "The Devil in Miss Jones" back when they came out.

jab, what about "Debbie does Dallas?" Any body remember seeing a 3-D porno. I think the name was "Felix the Cat"(a cartoon) A huge dick coming straight at your face?

"Always felt weird asking for $20 singles for $20 at the gas station down the road from the strip club." Then just ask for it at the club. I've never seen a bartender or a waitress that wouldn't provide change.

i finally got around to watching the recording. Good movie, and I'll agree, she is hot at 44. I didn't care for the "open" ending, however. Portends a "Wrestler II".
