Top 10 Worst Stripper Movies

10 - FLASHDANCE [1983]
#09 - MIDNIGHT TEASE [1994]
#08 - THE DARK DANCER [1995]
Another unerotic thriller, this one revolves around a psychologist by day and stripper by night (how original!). Bottom line: Just about any Shannon Tweed film could occupy this spot!
#07 - DEBBIE DOES DALLAS: THE NEXT GENERATION [1997]
#06 - BLAZE [1989]
#05 - THE GORE GORE GIRLS [1972]
More gory killings at a strip club, this legendary sleazefest was directed by the "Godfather of Gore" himself, Herschell Gordon Lewis (Blood Feast). Priceless dialogue: "Ah, face mutilated with a meat tenderizer, throat slit and this one had her ass beat in . . ."
#04 - MONDO TOPLESS [1966]
#03 - STRIPPED TO KILL [1987]
More brutal murders, this time at a strip club called "Rock Bottom." This is the actual tagline for the film (I'm not kidding!): "A Maniac is Killing Strippers. Detective Sheehan Has One Weapon to Stop Him. Her Body."
#02 - STRIPTEASE [1996]
What happens when you take a biting satire from Carl Hiaasen, water it down and choose Demi Moore and Burt Reynolds to play the leads? You're absolutely correct, the result is an unmitigated disaster. Moore tries to turn her role as a Ft. Lauderdale stripper into something out of A Streetcar Named Desire, while her supporting cast hams it up, unbeknownst to her dramatic intentions. At least Burt Reynolds (clad in one of his ridiculous toupees) has given up his goal of being taken seriously as an actor. Ving Rhames does manage to steal some scenes as the club's bad-ass bouncer.
#01 - SHOWGIRLS [1995]
A thoroughly laughable and unerotic look at the sleazy side of Las Vegas strippers, this turkey stars the untalented Elizabeth Berkley ("Saved by the Bell"), a spunky but brain-dead dancer named "Nomi" who works her way up the showbiz ladder from lap dancer to showgirl. Kyle MacLachlan, looking and acting just as he did when he portrayed Ray Manzarek in The Doors, plays Nomi's boyfriend, "Zack" (effectively terminating his once-promising career). Sample dialogue: "You got low self-esteem baby, you're a fantastic fuck."

last commentAll I could think about while watching "Showgirls" was why couldn't Gina Gershon have the lead role? She had the better body and was far more beautiful than Elizabeth. Yea, I wanted to take Gina to the VIP for extras during the entire movie.

Ditto concerning Gershon! I drool every time I see her, no matter what it is, now. Freakin' fabulous.

I have seen #1 & #2 and found them entertaining. I wondered why "Dancing at the Blue Aguana" did not make the list?

troop, I have enjoyed some movies with strippers in them. Rose McGowan in 'Grindhouse' (Planet Terror or Death Proof), Salma Hayek in 'From Dusk Till Dawn', Daryl Hannah in 'Dancing At The Blue Iguana', Jessica Biel in 'Powder Blue'

Showgirls is one of the worst movies ever made. Bad acting, terrible plot, and poor use of attractive women, toss in an actor with a bad toupee and voila, a terrible movie for all times. Flashdance is one of the best.

Showgirls was a missed opportunity. Right premise-executed poorly.

Not to be cruel, but outside of maybe Exotica,, are there any GOOD stripper movies?

ss1- By "worst" movies, do you mean that they do a lousy job of portraying stripping/clubgoing, or that they were a flop in the "mainstream"? Flashdance didn't strike me as a stripper movie, per se, but it at least did decent in the mainstream sense. (Eg- theme song was a T40 hit for several weeks). Oh, and those fricking leg warmers. I still see some today, does ANYONE like them on a dancer?? As for "Showgirls"- Yes, it was a turkey at the box office, but it seems stripclubs and lapdancing became more "mainstream/common" from 1995 onward.

Anyone have a 10 best list?

Gotta vote for "I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell" for being a good film w/ strippers in a prominent role.

I found Showgirls entertaining. I'm not looking for an Oscar, just something to keep my interest, and at the time it was considered gold to see Elizabeth Berkley nude

Anyone see "Fear City," about a serial killer who's targeting strippers? It's got Tom Berenger and Melanie Griffith (as a stripper). Decent little pulp flick from the 80s.

If only Tiffany Amber Thiessen had been the star instead.

Showgirls gets such a bad rap but c'mon everyone, who cares? Every man on this blog saw the movie for one reason and one reason only....we ALL wanted to see "Jesse Spano" NAKED!!! I remember seeing this in the theaters with what seemed like a college fraternity and we all hooted and hollered for Elizabeth so just chill out everybody and stop expecting "Gone With The Wind" here! We got what we wanted and people still wanna complain....geez!!
