@Rhyno7: The way that you wrote this didn't match up with other people's impressions of the place, obviously.
Any more info on the Otay Mesa crossing? Parking, parking fee, lines to get through each way? How were the agents on each side?

Turns out the guy just isn't very skilled at writing these... if I'd seen his previous reviews I would have rejected it.

Not sure about your thoughts on the "undisclosed" charges... they've been covered here before (but again not recently). Ultimately, you have to remember that it's just a part of the biz down there -- they wouldn't have all those meseros trying to get you to order food from Azul if it wasn't making them a bit of money. I can't fault them for trying to get what they can because you still have the choice to say no.
So they have an elevator operator now, or is it just for the top floors? The main elevators aren't that big to begin with so I don't see that lasting if the're there.

Again, great review. Like I mentioned, google the locations of the farmacias in the Zona for next time, or just order from Amazon... you can get lube in bottles small enough for the TSA.
I have been to HK at least a dozen times and I did not know that they had a rooftop terrace -- got to check that out now. :-)
On your first discrepancy, I think the security deposits for the rooms started when they added bar fridges to the rooms and I'm pretty sure it's been mentioned here (though not lately).

Congrats, young man. Agree that the meseros are a pain, but you learn to live with it. Chicago stays empty until about 4 or 5 in my experience, but steadily gets better after that (ditto for Adelita's, though there are some hot single moms working the day shift there every once in a while). You definitely should check out the smaller bars if you're there for a couple of days again.
Can't wait until the end of the month when I'll be there myself.

Nice... if it weren't for the crap rooms, I'd like to make Chicago my base for an overnight someday.

Good review. Keep that third encounter in mind for the next time.. buying a ficha is almost always a good idea to see if you have any chemistry going.

Good review. I too wish that they had some sort of seating around the front stage. Last time I was there they were doing the shaving cream show in the back so you could get a little handsy -- have they moved it to the front now?
Overall, I haven't found language to be an insurmountable barrier there -- they *do* have wifi in the club so if you can get the password from one of the dancers you can use a translation app on your phone without eating into your cell plan.

Congrats :-)
My hat's off to you for making your first trip on a Saturday *and* a fight night... must have been packed. As far as negotiating goes, I prefer to let the girl name a price first in the constant hope that she quotes me a figure lower than I was planning on spending. :-)
If I was a local, I'd park at a trolley station by default unless I was crossing back when the trolley isn't running. The traffic by the San Ysidro crossing is a pain. Some reviews that I've read over the years mention Otay as an alternative so you may want to keep that in mind for next time. There's no limo there though, and the taxi will cost you more. I've never been able to talk the taxi drivers down from $20 at the airport the times I've flown into TIJ from elsewhere in Mexico.
Looking forward to your other reviews.

You got played... dances are $10, and what she called a "deluxe dance" is the minimum that you get for 10 in this place.

You can always get extra sheets or a blanket from the staff roaming the halls for a couple buck tip. I always ask for towels *and* sheets when I take a girl up and they're always been perfectly happy to provide them. Sometimes I get lucky and they park the cart with the fresh ones near enough to my room that I can just grab a few on my own...
So how much did you pony up for the VIP altogether? I never consider it in HK because I usually get a room upstairs. Not a knock on them -- I've had great experiences at Gold Club and Chicago, and it suddenly struck me that it might be a future option if I get there before check-in time.

Pretty information-free review. There are too many people gaming the admin's promise of free access for reviews lately.

There's one bartender (usually works the back bar) that I've gotten to know over the past year or so, and he's a good source of less biased intel. So if you're parked at the bar for any length of time, tipping the bartender might help you get closer to what you're looking for...

Why no Google Translate? It's a big help sometimes... that and the Microsoft one (Translator). Both will work offline, at least better than my native Spanglish does.

@623: Most of that "intel" can be had in a simple web search. Adding up his numbers tells me that (a) he spent $25 over 4 days for food, (b) didn't drink anything other than a couple of beers with the coupons (and maybe tap water otherwise?), (c) didn't tip the girls or buy fichas while in the club.
IMO, if you're on a shoestring budget, bring a few hundred and make it a day trip. If you want a fuller experience, plan on about $150 for each time you plan to go arriba (to cover tips/drinks whie you're shopping), $25-50 per day for food/water/snacks outside the club, and do the math to see if getting a VIP card works out to saving you more than its $50 price tag in the hotel on the nights you stay. If you want the fullest experience, bring more money, hit the other clubs as well, and venture out into the city for meals and OTC sometimes. :-)

Nescafe will usually do for me if I'm sitting down to breakfast. Both OXXO stores by Cascadas have brewed coffee in the morning if you can't stand instant. Agree that Casa Cacao is worth a visit if you're looking for a decent cuppa.
@tbot: You might want to consider decaf, my man. :-)

The coffee in Azul is Nescafe... they always look at me like I'm a mutant for wanting mine negro sin azucar. :-)
I've never been tempted to eat while I'm in HK, but I've *always* been tempted to smack the meseros who flash the food menu at me while I'm trying to decide on the girl's menu. I almost always have to tell them no gracias three or four times before they take the hint and move on... I had a girl in stitches once when we got hit on by three of them in a five minute span and my responses got progressively more theatrical. It's part of the vibe so might as well have fun with it.

Speaking for myself, if you take her to a table, you should at least buy one ficha. You're setting the expectation that you want to hang out for a while when you do this. Doesn't apply if you're at a table alone and the girl approaches you, or if the mesero brings her over. In that case, you can politely decline or tip a buck and politely decline.

To my mind the idea of automatically trying to talk a girl down in price is a dominance thing and, like you say, kills the mood I'm trying to create. Closest I get to that is hesitating, but that in itself is a signal that I'm not getting the vibe I wanted. I'll always take good sex over just getting my rocks off. :-)
I'd keep giving the other bars a chance on future trips because you never know... just stick to Cascadas for a place to stay because unfortunately the rest of the hotels in the ZN don't come close to it.

Great review and welcome to the club. Just to give you a bit of contrast, I'm a fugly middle aged guy and I get the same price quotes. The days of fun for $60 are over as far as I can tell, at least for HK, and all I can say is if you get quoted more than $100 she's totally not into you. :-)
I've only found paradise once with someone I consider a 10 there, and it was a GFE from the moment she sat in my lap downstairs. These days, I always base my decision to go arriba on the vibe I'm getting in the club, with very, very good results so far.

Great review... next time, ask when she's off shift or has a day off -- it might fit into your schedule nicely. :-)
Agree about the jacuzzi rooms, IMO the way to go is single if you're on a budget or master if you're not. I haven't tried the penthouse rooms 'cause they're past my budget even with the Mon/Tue VIP discount. If anyone thinks different, I'd love to hear about it and compare notes.

Palm trees, bad bitches and wannabees
Getting her number can be hit or miss, as they often cycle through burner phones. I was trading texts with one girl after a visit and then one day some guy responded asking why I was texting his girlfriend... found out on my next visit that the girl I thought I was texting had her phone stolen and it had subsequently been picked up by someone else. :-)
