Popped my HK Cherry
First trip to TJ and HK. This is just my experience as best I can tell it. First I have known of HK for several years but didn't think i'd ever go until last year after a bad escort experience here in TX. I started to want something other than the typical 1 hour meet in a hotel with an escort. So started to look again at HK. Simply started researching it and reading everything I could on the subject. Many thanks to all the contributors on TUSCL, ECCIE, and Chicabow, everything I did I learned from reading the forums. Over the next couple of months I started to think I might actually go someday, so first thing I did was get my passport card. I was not in a big hurry to go and couldn't anyway as we were in our busy time at work. But as things slowed down at work I found really good price on plane tickets. $180 round trip, didn't think I could beat that with a stick so I jumped on it and suddenly I was 6 weeks from going to HK. I continued to research and was learning little tips and tricks right up to the last days before my trip, I was more and more excited as the time got closer.
So the day had finally come and I was off to the airport. Got to the airport early and for a while thought my flight was delayed but it wasn't. (Airlines apparently have planes and crews on standby when one plane gets behind schedule.) Long 3+ hours on plane and finally in San Diego. I packed only a backpack so I wouldn't have to check a bag and could travel light. This turned out to be just perfect. Found my way to the 992 stop and waited probably 2 min for the bus to show up. Hoped on and paid the 2.25 one way cash fare and rode to america plaza. Got off one stop too soon but this only made me walk an extra 100 yards at most. Went to trolley stop and bought a trolley ticket for 2.50 for the blue line. Waited maybe 5 -10 minutes and the blue line trolley showed up. Hoped on and was on my way to the border. So less than an hour and a half from landing I was standing at the border ready to cross.
I had watched some youtube about crossing the border but things have changed slightly with all the construction. The old greyhound building is gone so you don't go behind it anymore. Just get off the trolley and go south up the path and you end up at the same turn styles to enter mexico. I went through and got in the foreigner line. Waited only about 10 min in line and Gave the mexican immigration lady (not the good looking one) my passport card. She wrote my name down on a paper and gave me the bottom part. Put my bag on the xray and I was on my way. Mexico here I come! Got to the taxi area and was slightly confused and hesitate since I didn't want to get ripped off or worse by taxis. I wanted to be sure to get the taxi libre since they are the most reputable from what I read. I saw one guy hailing taxis for people so I waited until one of the taxi libres was pulling up and told him I needed a taxi. He got the taxi libre I hoped in and told the driver Hong Kong. We never discussed the price. 5 min later we were in front of HK and I threw the guy 5 and got out.
I could not believe I was finally standing in front of HK. I had seen it many times from pics ect on the internet but now I was here! Got the pat down and stepped inside to the desk and asked to get a VIP card. She did ask for ID. I'd read you could just give a fake name but this seems to no longer be the case. I had to give an ID so I relented and gave her my passport. She put my name on the card and handed me the VIP card. I then handed her the coupon for free night at Cascadas from StripLV twitter feed, but she said that is no longer valid. I complained they had tweeted it out just 2 days prior but no luck.
