I’m okay with increased immigration. It’s a reasonable way to keep our economy growing and financially support us old farts. I just think we need more engineers and entrepreneurs and fewer day laborers.

It’s relatively easy for a centrally controlled economy to pull itself out of extreme poverty up to a point where most people have the basics in life. Reform agriculture to improve productivity. Invest in basic infrastructure. Build factories and take advantage of your vast population of low-wage workers to grind out simple goods. The next step, building a middle class economy is difficult, especially for a centrally planned economy. You need an educated work force, sophisticated financial systems, a well established rule of law that protects investment, and a free market economy that allows the invisible hand of economic decision making. China sorta, kinda, put some of this in place but by maintains ultimate control by the CCP, they are unlikely to truly become a middle class consumer economy. A minority of their urban population is there, but it’s unlikely to spread to the entire country.

This decline in working age population is already taking place in China and it will get worse over the next 20 years. It’s going to ruin any chance they had for becoming the world’s dominant economic power. Those us old enough to remember when Japan was certain to be the dominant economic power will recognize the pattern.

    Perfect 10
It’s interesting to compare the Perfect 10s of previous generations to the current age. Mae West was a sex symbol. She probably weighed twice what our current sex symbols weigh.

Large families used to be every farmers retirement plan. The robots that do our farming in the future have no need for a retirement plan.

Founder set up the political discourse forum so people who also wanted to discuss politics had a place to go and people who only wanted to discuss strip clubs could avoid politics by simply not clicking on politics. It’s a great solution as long as people who don’t want to talk politics don’t click on the politics button and express outrage that there’s politics being discussed in the politics forum.

It takes a fertility rate of 2.2 to maintain a stable population. The US has been below that level since 1971. The downward trend was hidden by immigration and the baby boomer bulge. As boomers die off, the 2020 census has revealed what honest demographers already knew.

    Luxury Goods & the Pandemic
Here’s how it’s relevant. Supply and Demand. Supply chains are disrupted across all goods and services because workers are staying home and living off unemployment. That reduces supply which causes higher prices on all goods, including luxury goods.

    Luxury Goods & the Pandemic
So far, 20 states have announced they are ending the supplemental $300 unemployment payment. Effective dates vary but generally around the end of June. That will make for an interesting comparison for states with and without. My bet is we will see a surge in new jobs shortly after the supplement ends. Funny how that works.

Tim Tebow Is Officially In The NFL
If this doesn’t work out, maybe he could be a heart surgeon. Sure, he has no experience, but he’s got a great attitude and 15 years ago he was a good college quarterback.

Papers, Comrade ! Oregon has lifted its mask mandate for people who have been fully vaccinated against the coronavirus, but is requiring businesses, workplaces and houses of worship to verify the vaccination status of individuals before they enter buildings without a mask.

    OT: Defund the police
Twenty percent of Seattle’s police force has resigned or retired since the BLM riots and defunding. Many more are using sick and leave time before submitting their papers. Reportedly, many more are interviewing for jobs in other cities. Not coincidentally, murders are up, as is crime in general. Similarly, in Minneapolis, so many police have left the force that the city is pumping $8 Million into the budget to recruit officers. Crime is up.

‘Audit the Ultra-Rich' It is an act of justice...
China already has a system where, if you jaywalk, CCTV facial recognition can identify you and immediately take a fine out of your bank account. Is that a world you want to live in ? Some AI system determines you’ve done something the government disapproves of and takes your money. Because giving power to some bureaucrat, or computer, to take my money without legal process scares the shit out of me.

    Arizona Audit
Here’s how smart politicians act when they are winning. Speak softly. Be humble. Reach out. Give your opponent an opportunity to save face. Then, crush them if they don’t back down. Karen Fann is using the right words while defending the audit and allowing it to reach its conclusion. While Maricopa Supervisors are emoting and whining in front of cameras, Fann is focusing on the task and making progress. That’s how you project strength.

I’m impressed by Karen Fann. By all accounts, a middle of the road Republican. Not a Trumper. But, she’s just going about her job in a methodical and thorough way.

Originally, the audit was to include a statistical sampling of ballots to see if a ballot was actually by the person named on the ballot. This would have discovered any falsified ballots or illegally harvested blank ballots. The DOJ argued this would be voter intimidation, so this part of the audit was put on hold. Depending on the outcome of the rest of the audit, this part of the audit could be restarted.

This audit is being done not only of the Presidential vote but also the US Senate vote in AZ. Mark Kelly won the Senate seat by a narrow margin. If enough unsupported duplicates are discovered, it could call into question Kelly’s legitimacy. Since the Senate is now 50/50, that could swing the Senate to the Republicans.

    Arizona Audit
The AZCentral and AZ Republic coverage is twisting the words of the briefing in record faux news. The Auditor explained how files were deleted and Maricopa refused any passwords or file definition that would allow transparency. The Republic spun this as the auditor being too stupid to initially find the file.

The duplicate info came out of the video stream of the State Senate briefing. It was also discussed in Kelli Wards daily video update last night. None of the media is covering it. I’ll see if I can find a link to these videos. If any media ever covers it, I’ll link it.

The other big news coming out of the briefing is they have found thousands of duplicate ballots without the legally required codes linking them to the originals. By law, if a ballot is spoiled ( say, a coffee stain or tear ), the ballot may be duplicated and run through the machine. But, the duplicate must be stored with the original for 24 months and both coded to show how they are paired. There are thousands of so-called duplicates that were counted with no indication of an original linked to it.

Nixon had the famous 18 1/2 minute gap in his audio recordings. He instructed his Assistant, Rosemary Woods, to erase it multiple times to assure it that it couldn’t be recovered by a technical expert. It appears that whoever deleted the election database files wasn’t as diligent as Rosemary Woods.
