    Stripper Clothes
From the discussions I've had with seamstresses over the years: The main reason behind the expense is that they're usually hand-cut and the details usually have to be hand stitched to get patterns and the fabric bias to align. Most of them are made with lycra, and if you don't align the weave properly (bias), the look like hell. It's turned out that every woman I've ever dated and every dancer whose company I've enjoyed with on a long term basis has been an accomplished seamstress. (Two of the latter are now designers in the local garment /athletic gear industry)

What's with the Strip Club Business Model?
The answer to the original question posed in the title: multi-level marketing. The club's true customers are the people who rent the stage space. They are the ones who bring in the subsidiary income from food and beverage sales from the second level. That is only true for legitimate businesses- many businesses are obviously fronts for other activities. While drug distribution and prostitution are usually the first things people will think of, it's pretty clear that the other activities mostly involve gambling, money laundering, and tax evasion in my little corner of the world.

I'd prefer a no holds barred article, but I'll settle for no holes. So, when you're dating a dancer, which hole do you ask for first?
