Word of caution on vasectomies being easy. Bit of a myth by the feminists there. Most guys might have an easy experience. My cousin did a 5 mile run the morning after since he was in the Air Force at the time. No problem.

Me, on the other hand, had a careless doctor who didn't cauterize enough of the leaking blood vessels he snipped. Despite using ice and staying immobile like I was supposed to, 24 hours later, my scrotum is purple and swollen to grapefruit size. I did take the athletic supporter off before I went to sleep that night - because the pain was bad. I don't know whether the blood filling up my sack is what caused the pain; and if I had been able to keep it on if the swelling would have been controlled.

After about a week the blood re-absorbed. (If I had known where to get sterile leeches, I would have used some to suck the blood out - it was a long week.)

Talked to one of my good friends while I was going through this, and he had the same thing, and he was never the same. I was never entirely "the same" either. My nut sack lost much of its elasticity and hasn't supported my balls right in the decades since.

My brother-in-law didn't have the swelling problem, but he showed me a couple days after his vasectomy his dick and balls were 100% purple.

I think a lot of it has to do with this: On some guys, the vas coming off the testicle comes right off the end like a cherry stem. For others of us, the vas may be plastered along the side of the testicle, and they kind of rip it off to get access to snip it. That is just a theory, though.

But since the procedure, I can feel a little wad of scarred up ducts inside my scrotum. It was always sensitive to touch. But either I got more used to it, or it got better after a few years. But, like I say, I was never the same.

Back in the 60's an acquaintance of my had a bad experience. He accused his wife of cheating and he had had a vasectomy. Then found out that his tubes had grown back together.

I had no problems with mine and my doc put metal caps on the tubes to prevent them ever rejoining.

My urologist asked directly if I wanted a vasectomy reversible by microsurgery or nonreversible. Definitely nonreversible! In the event, he removed about 3/8" from each tube and cauterized all four open ends. Never had a problem.
