I am considering a trip to Toronto soon, and might check out a club or two. Do I need Canadian dollars? How do y'all acquire them? Your bank?
Acquiring Candian dollars

You might not have difficulty using USD at a club in Toronto but they'll probably give you a horrible exchange rate, maybe 1:1. By far the easiest thing for you to do is to use an ATM. You'll get the best exchange rate, though make sure to have the ATM charge the transaction in CAD so that your bank makes the exchange. You might end up with some CAD at the end of your trip but the penalty for converting that back to USD will be smaller than other options. Or you can hold onto the CAD for your next visit.
Use an ATM in Canada
Used a no fee money exchange place if your bringing cash along. Rate was 1/1.4 CAD.
I have used ATMs for pulling Canadian cash once I cross the border. One disappointing thing; I have never found a way to exchange where the financial institution doesn't skim a few per cent. What I mean is, if you start with a hundred US dollars, change it into Canadian; then back again, you will not have $100 dollars any more.
Even if you do it on the same day. Of course, no one would do that, but this just illustrates the point of how each exchange is skimmed.
Last time I was in Canada the girls preferred American money. Current exchange rate is 1/1.4. Instead of small bills, CA has coins (way harder to tuck in thongs!)
Of course the girls want american dollar cause they make out on the exchange rate. Your paying more on their service or goods.

Obviously. But unless you want to tip $3.58 USD each time (their smallest bill) or tip with coins, $1 bills come in handy
Women often try to take 1:1 usd. Go to an ATM and get Canadian bills. Have fun!
Canada doesn't have a stage tipping culture (well, Alberta has a weird one). If you are going to pull more than $400 CAD and your bank has a foreign currency fee or foreign ATM fee, you are better off exchanging cash at a currency exchange in the tourist area as opposed to making multiple withdrawals.
If you are a member of AAA, they can get you CAD currency. There is a $10 fee if you exchange less than 100 USD. You would have to ask about exchanging any remaining CAD back to USD.
I had a fucked up trip to Chez Paree on my only chance there many years ago. I straight up asked the woman who seemed to be the house mom "How do I tip with coins?" And she said just don't tip. Obviously, a not-so-polite French speaker dancer then called me out for not tipping. Fun was over before it got started. Girls were hot as hell, too.
This is why Canada sucks (no $1 bills)
Girls, especially the Quebecoises are hot as f though. I wish they worked in SoFlo clubs.
If you are near casino, that is not a bad option. Also, many of the border crossings have currency exchange.
The only stage tipping at chez paree is an occasional USD, or more often a customer lying on the stage with a $10 in his mouth.
Get a debit card with no forex fee and that reimburses ATM fees, chase or fidelity, get 20s/50s from atm.

You can do a currency exchange at the border or airport.
