Oscar-winning actor Robert Redford dies at 89
No cause of death was provided. At 89, I'd say it was because of old age.
Grew up watching many of his movies, good actor but as I matured I did disagree with his political views although they don't take away from his on screen presence.

I like Jeremiah Johnson and Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.
Who's left of the old school big time actors, I guess just Clint Eastwood and Michael Caine.
Spy Game.
^ That was such a fantastic movie.
Yeah muddy, off the top of my head I'd say those 2 are probably my fave Redford movies with Brubaker and 3 Days of the Condor in 2nd places.
I've wondered about Eastwood for years, he looks so frail, and I didn't know Caine was still alive.
Downhill skier is a very underrated Redford film, but The Sting is him at his absolute best.
What a great actor, has to be the last of the old time leading men, my favorite film by him is “A Walk in the Woods” with Nick Nolte, but he made so many great movies, another one I liked a lot was “Barefoot in the Park” with Jane Fonda, he was one of the best, “The Sting” and “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” are probably his best movies definitely the best known of his considerable filmography
They said he died in his sleep, peacefully, great way to go, if I have a choice I hope to leave that way, myself. He will be remembered fondly R. I. P. Robert Redford
i will always remember him for offering 1 million to fuck your wife (: in that instance it was demi Moore
Yeah, The Natural. 2d best baseball movie ever.
He also produced A River Runs Through It which is one of the most visually beautiful movies I’ve ever seen.
^Agree. I had forgotten a river runs through it.
The actor Terence Stamp died recently. I went and watched his first movie, Billy Bud, which had him playing a sailor and Robert Ryan playing a sadistic ship officer.
Sting
He was a closet fag.
^ The most incredible movie I saw as a kid.
I respect Redford and like many of his movies---Jeremiah Johnson, 3 Days Of The Condor, Ordinary People, The Candidate, All The President's Men, Spy Game... And his politics never bothered me. I agreed with a lot of his views.
I know this one is a bit under the radar, but I also really liked the movie Sneakers...
R.I.P. Mr. Robert Redford
I always liked "The Sting", "Great Waldo Pepper", and "The Natural."
"Sneakers" was just a good, fun show.
It's kind of weird but I always looked at him as the new guy in Hollywood.
He was not on the same level as Clark Gable or Humphrey Bogart or Cary Grant.
But nonetheless he was a good actor.
Dude owned a ski area in Utah. When asked how owning a ski area would be possible given his environmental views he reaponded: I'm a hypocrite who loves to ski. Always admired his honesty.
I like “All is Lost” which he was in as an old man. Maybe one word of dialogue about a guy on a solo sailboat that meets with disaster
I cannot think of any film he made that stunk, or which he gave a bad performance. That is an impressive accomplishment for a man with as many roles as he had.
Great mashup of The Natural and Kirk Gibson’s home run in the 88 World Series. That A’s team with McGwire Canseco and the Eck seemed unbeatable.
