I would say RIP but I suspect there will be no rest in the afterlife for the prince of darkness. One day we'll all join him, and until then we'll miss him on planet earth.
War Pigs is a genius song.
I had an awkward interaction with a older coworker of mine. He was real straight and nerdy and listened to Black Sabbath. I told him it was “Death Rock” because a lot of the songs were about death. He just looked at me like he was annoyed.
Another coworker later told me he listened to Sabbath because it was his son’s favorite band before he killed himself. Ughhh…I felt like an asshole.
@Studme53 - I understand. You had no idea, please don't be too hard on yourself.
I have done some dumbass things a time or 2 (I try to be careful) including an email that I forgot to exclude a big-time Broadway Executive Producer in Reply/All where one of her actors for a play we were supporting as a big fundraiser for a 501c3 I was treasurer when she said, "He doesn't like meet/greets..." My flippant responses to my folks was "Who the Hell does he think he is and who PAYS HIS SALARY via TICKET SALES!!!" (No, it wasn't Mel Brooks/"The Producers".) Yeah, I felt bad, fell on sword and made she the she knew this was my opinion, not my non-profit's. She actually kind of agreed with me, however I was out of line. The female actor was great and attend out meet/greet cocktail party, really was great. From that moment I've checked and re-check email when I do a Reply/All if there are those who should be removed. We brought in like $5 Large from the fundraiser.
@skibum609, I can’t say that I saw them in their prime, but I was lucky enough to see them during a reunion tour at Riverbend in Cincinnati just a couple weeks before I started my senior year of High School in 1999. Godsmack opened for them and it was a fantastic show.
It was one of my first concerts and was my first Metal or even rock concerts since Ihad only been to country concerts before then. It was also kind of a family tradition since my dad's first concert was seeing Black Sabbath at the Cincinnati Gardens in 1971, the first concert that my dad and mom went to together was Black Sabbath at Riverfront Coliseum in 1977 and my older brother's first concert was Black Sabbath in 1992 at the Cincinnati Gardens.
While I was never as big of an Ozzy fan as my parents or even my brother this hit hard today. It hit even harder when I stopped by my father's house this even and gave him the news. He cried talking about when he and my mom saw them back when they were engaged. He said the only reason he was able to convince my mom to go to that concert was because Bob Seger was opening and my mom was a huge fan of his but by the end of the night she had become a Black Sabbath fan. He did manage to laugh a little when he said he would like to think my mom was watching Ozzy perform again in Heaven today but that he knew that wasn't possible because the Prince of Darkness would be partying in Hell instead.
When we were young my cousin and I were in DeMolay (young masons) and one of the elders liked my cousin and his family. He was GM of Ticketron, so we got concert tickets to see everybody, and I mean everybody, without having to sleep outside the record store on the sidewalk for three days.
Saw him in early 90's in Albany, NY and the back up band was Korn. Saw him in early 2000's with Metallica at Worcester Centrum, then Ozzfest at Gillette.

I wasn’t a fan of Black Sabbath, but he came across as a pretty good guy sorry to hear about this.

RIP Ozzy
I only saw him once, on the Black Sabbath farewell tour in 2016. This goes down as the only concert I went to with one of my friends.
