Feel badly for people losing jobs, but it's no great loss to the SC world. Gave up on the metro Cincinnati SC scene a long time ago
The true reason for the closing of these clubs.
I had no idea The Brass Ass had that kind of history but then again the interior was probably still from 70's.
Well you still got Lux Views. Maybe somebody opens another strip club up in the area now somewhere to fill the gap which could be a good thing. Could imagine like a real nice spearmint rhino opening up, I just think girls would rather work at a place like that, then some shitty dive bars like the Brass clubs were.
@Muddy unfortunately there isn't any place in the area that a new club can open. All of the counties in Northern Kentucky and the major counties around Cincinnati on the Ohio side have all prohibited adult businesses from opening for several decades now. Clubs like the Brass Ass, Brass Bull, Lux Views and a handful of others were grandfathered in since they predated the bans. Now all of the clubs except for Lux Views (formerly Playpen) have been forced to close. I'm sure it is just a matter of time for Lux Views as well, especially with the upcoming re-opening of Bobby Mackey's Music World right next door expected by next summer.
There's no doubt they were low tier dive bars which is why I do 95% of my clubbing out of town in Lexington, Louisville, Columbus or Indianapolis. Phil Burress and his Citizens for Community Values (which has since rebranded itself as the Center for Christian Virtue and been labeled as a Hate Group by the Southern Poverty Law Center) have just about finished their fight to rid greater Cincinnati of strips clubs which they have been trying to do since their battles with Larry Flint in the late 1900s.
