On my last exit, I saw the dude on top of the girl. His bare ass pumping and humping! lol
The patron, with his bare ass for anyone to see, was on top of the girl, on the bench..
It was both, voyeristic and similar to a car accident- you don’t want to look- but you can’t look away! lol
I just wanted to ask, how common is it for this to occur?

In most vip’s there is a curtain or something else making it hard to see in. I wonder if you mean LDA (lap dance area), an area where a lot of high backed love seats are all seated next to one another? It’s easy to walk by the LDA at several local clubs, take a quick glance, and see something going on.
In the local LDAs, that exact behavior is uncommon, but I bet it happens all the time in VIPs. But you would be able to see them bc there’s a curtain drawn.

Several years ago some of the more notorious Detroit clubs (e.g., Bogarts, Henry VIIIS) had communal private dance areas, small rooms with chairs where multiple dances might be happening at the same time. It would be possible to have a dancer riding your cowgirl style while the stranger next to you was getting various services. Not for everyone but it was an interesting voyeuristic experience. Those clubs have now transitioned to small private dance areas.
Harry O’s in Stamford has a small, square, well lit room with linoleum flooring littered with condom wrappers and a cheapo kitchen chair in each corner. Everything happens in there in full view of everybody else. Nasty AF. Only been there once. Makes Pleasant Moments in Bridgeport just up I-95 seem posh by comparison

Jk. But I can't recall many places where it would be easy to peek without opening a curtain on someone.
Maybe Gold club in Tampa? There's some semi private areas that don't have a curtain.
+1 on Manuellabore's description of Harry O's in Stamford. When the club is slow, they try to keep one couple in their at a time. But when it's hopping, everyone is getting serviced in plain view of everyone else. I haven't gone in the back of that place in a very long time just for that reason.
You also have to be pretty comfy in getting seen if you get serviced at the Dollhouse in Jacksonville. It happens literally in LD chairs that are visible to the main floor through windows. The bouncer will bark if he sees a guy staring, but it only takes a glance to see what's happening. I've seen plenty of dancers also glance in to see who was doing what, maybe to know who was down for a pitch the next time around or who to avoid (or some of both), Idk.
But what I have not seen anywhere is a guy pounding away with his ass hanging out. IME usually the guy stays seated and she either blows him or hops on RCG.
I don't mind if the girl don't mind.
Years ago @KH in Hawthorne, CA, the dance booths were on a raised platform behind a curtain. A bench was in front of another thick curtain on the other side with patrons sitting with their backs to the action while facing the stage. There were slits in the curtain and you could sometimes hear what was going on and also there were slits in the curtain. I saw a girl wearing a fur coat over her g-string take a guy into one of the booths. I casually looked behind me through a slit and saw her with the coat covering her body riding the guy. It was very common in this club to glance over your shoulder, especially when there was a lull in the music and noises were coming from the booths, to see folks enjoying themselves.
Lap dance room etiquette is similar to urinal rules. Look straight ahead and don’t pay any attention to what’s going on next to you.

@rick why dont they at least cover up those windows with some sort of cheap easy to install paper covering, so the bouncer doesnt have to bark at people.

Only one place I ever saw something like that, and it was unavoidable. The old Blue Goose, all the way up at the northern end of Paterson NJ. It was remodeled and changed to Silk City a few years back but I think it's closed now. Anyway, the old set-up had two VIP rooms and to get to the second one, you literally had to walk right through the first one. It looked like a small hotel room with a little bed. The second room was more expensive, but guaranteed total privacy because it was a storage room with a locking door and there was no other way in or out. I had a long time fav there and we always took the second room. Walking through the first, if you were lucky you only saw a pair covered by a blanket or you got a nice flash of titties when the girl was riding RCG. But I saw the hairy ass pounding away missionary style (as described by OP) several times. The worst I ever saw was a guy on his back, feet up in the air, and the girl was clearly giving him a rim job.
I don't know how common it is to peek into somebody else's VIP. I don't do it. As far as doing missionary is concerned, I'll definitely do that, and doggie (usually standing), if the dancer's into it. Depends on the club and depends on the dancer. Why not mix things up when you can?
