In Baltimore, what are the best options on “the block”?

Particularly, for an afternoon or early evening visit during the week.

I’ll be in the area soon and am interested in checking out the block both for sheer entertainment/relaxation (like any club visit) and also because it’s kind of a legendary spot for this hobby. I understand the area is not what it once was, but I still wanna check it out.

I’m good with a divey vibe as long as it’s safe, relaxed, and comfortable. FWIW, I’m a middle aged white guy so if I’m gonna stand out too much or this is just a bad idea, please let me know.
