Safest way to get from HK to hotels outside Zona, especially at night.

Folks. I am planning a trip to the Zona next month for 4 days. In the past I would stay on the US side and cross the border every night and use HK shuttle back and forth. Since I wanted to avoid the border long wait times, I only experienced the Zona for jus few hours at night. This time I plan to stay in TJ in a close by hotel (hotel Ticuan is my target) and check different clubs and different times. I am wondering what is the best/safest way to get from HK to Ticuan, especially at night.

Hi. I'm at the Ticuan now and will be there next month also. I've been in Tijuana for nearly seven years now. I'd be happy to show you the best and safest ways to get from HK to Ticuan when you are here if you'd like. Just send me a private message and we can coordinate meeting up briefly if you'd like.

It's a long walk and there's bandits with badges about, so I would recommend a cab, which should cost about $7-8 from Ticuan to HK or nearby.

It's not very safe to walk at night, but I've never been stopped on Niños Héroes walking from HK to Ticuan with hundreds of trips under my belt. If you take a taxi, you shouldn't have to pay more than $5 from HK back to Ticuan. It's perfectly safe to walk to HK from Ticuan during the day. Just be careful with the pinche policia, especially if you are carrying any drugs on you.

Thank you guys for the feedback. I am assuming that cabs are safe to use. I never used them in TJ before. I always wanted to check the Zona other clubs and see how is the situation at HK/TB/CC during the day or early evening.

I use Uber primarily for trips within TJ, safer than the cabs in my opinion and cheaper. But can leave a trail of where you have been if that's a concern then cab it. It's a long walk to Tiucan and with the hotel next to Los Pulgas blasting the Banda music it can get quite loud. Ask for the newest or remodeled tower that is on the other side of the building

Are there quiet rooms in Rizo? I plan to visit during the week only, Monday through Wednesdays. I just don't want loud or weird background noise as I may need to make work related calls. I also need a decent WiFi.

@mmvucd: Rizo is definitely the quieter of the two big Zona Norte hotels (Cascadas being the other). No din at all coming from the bars and streets especially in the rooms located in the back. Wifi is solid as well. I’ve stayed in both and prefer Rizo.

Thank you so much @OPIllini96. Then Rizo is the answer. For me the convenience of having quick and easy access to the clubs is they key for my visit to work. I want to be able hop in and out, see what's happening, try the girls and be in the middle of the action. It is this simplicity that I am after. Now I just need to work on taking time off work :)

@OPIllini96, @Jascoi - are there specific floors/rooms that are known to be quiet that you recommend at Rizo?

They all seem to be pretty good..
201 however (which is a premium single room) does seem to get more street noise because of the window.
