@Muddy Ditto. I think it's the anticipation. My preference is thick sweaters which completely cover her chest because you can tell she's stacked but it doesn't give away everything. It's not overtly sexual, it's almost like she's hiding a treasure and she knows that you know what's under there, but you just can't see it yet.

Part of it is the association of something common (her wearing clothes) with something erotic (sex). I wouldn't count Ellish's songs as among my favs. But, her work is more original than that of most musicians, and millions love it. Reasonable to call that genius.

Just because it doesn’t appeal to you or me, doesn’t mean it’s not genius. We’re not her target audience. She released her first song at 14, her first EP at 16 and had absolute hits at 18 with Bad Guy and You Should See Me in a Crown at 18. That’s objectively a prodigy.

If you care enough, check out her interviews on Howard Stern. She and her brother write and perform together. Very interesting lives and listening to them talk about the writing and collaboration process is fascinating.Those interviews are where my respect for her grew and why I care, even if her music isn’t my first choice. They’ve also been interviewed on the late night talk circuit but those interviews don’t dive as deep as Stern.

I have to agree with Hank. I’m not a fan of the genre, but Billie Eilish is a transformative artist, and having heard her on interviews, she just might be a genius. To Muddy’s point, Eilish started intentionally wearing oversized, baggy clothes once people started noticing the fact that she was growing into a couple of DD’s. She wants people to notice her musical talent, not her boobs.

What I read was that Ellish was asked by her label to hide her charms while she was jailbait, to not feed the pedos.
