Kansas City

Looking at Google maps it appears that half of Kansas City is in Kansas but yet it’s a city in Missouri, which seems a bit odd ?
What’s the story behind this ? Are there any other cities that straddle a State border?

The name "Kansas" comes from the Kansa or Kaw Nation. Their lands included where Kansas City Missouri is: https://sweetamericanasweethearts.blogsp… .
Manhattan, N. Y.

London Bridge is in Arizona
Similar names with a river separating them include Memphis, TN and West Memphis, AR, St. Louis, MO and East St. Louis, IL.
There are many cities who have duplicate names in other states which are not across the border from one another. In some cases, multiple cities with the same name are in a single state. Some of the more common city names are Washington, Franklin, Clinton, Arlington, Centerville, Lebanon, Georgetown, Springfield.
If Kansas City being in Kansas and Missouri confuses you I don't know how you would come to terms with the fact that both the New York Jets and New York Giants are in New Jersey and not New York.
Kansas City missouri (one people think of)
North Kansas City Missouri

They noticed that every route in the eastern United States want through Aardmore Pennsylvania. It turns out there are two Aardmores in Pennsylvania. The trucks would go into the one on the eastern end of the state, get a 218 mile free ride to the other Aardmore, and come out on the west side.
But with a country this big you'll get duplicate or more names.
