This is a wimpy little storm that likely won't even knock power out in most places it hits. I did move up a planned OTC event just in case I'm wrong, but I expect to be watching Thursday night football when this thing rolls through.
I'm just glad the local news isn't taking the opportunity to do their usual overly dramatic bullshit to try and induce panic.
There are a lot of boats pulling in this week that don't have hurricane insurance, particularly the sailboats/catamaran type vessels that were lined up at all the bridges as soon as they were allowed south of 30.5. I'm sure they're all checking the details of their policies right now to see what happens if they take damage from a named storm outside of the season.
^We’re still technically in Hurricane Season until 11/30, and with warmer ocean temperatures, we’ll likely be seeing more October and November storms. This could become problematic with later storms now occurring during annual king tides (especially for those of us living on the barrier islands).
But I agree with the other So Fla posters. A cat 1 hurricane deserves to be taken seriously, and we need to take the cushions off the patio furniture, move the boat out of the cone, etc., but no need for panic or hoarding of toilet paper. We’ve been through this drill before.
I welcome this one. Friday I planted 12 new plants in my front yard and they need watering every 4 days for awhile. The remnants of this storm are forecasted to do the watering for me.
