Seems like this is becoming cool, or at least not uncool: en.wikipedia.org . I always thought it was only for the whitest of white guys over 50, just barely below scratching your butthole in public. What I see when I'm out and about is that it seems to be mostly younger black people wearing socks with sandals. Even have a black fav who shows up for OTC doing this. She says it's cool as long as they are "slide ins".

I tried that but had a massive increase in toe jam.
I need to give this a try! My usual wardrobe of an Adidas track suit with a tank top - and dress shoes with a Kangol cap - might be attracting the wrong type of dancer.
Gym shorts and slides with socks sounds comfortable and stylish! Maybe add a sweet Hawaiian shirt to complete the panty dropping look?
Don't forget to add a derby hat to complete the ensemble. 🥳

Slides aren't considered sandals.... that'd my go to footwear when I'm in Vegas
One of my stripper regulars would come into the club wearing socks with a marijuana weed leaf pattern. I thought they looked nice, but I wouldn't buy some and wear them when heading into my accounting job.
I guess "slide in sandals" are really just slippers, and it isn't all white-after-labor-day to wear socks with slippers. But that begs the question, when did it get cool to wear slippers out in public?
Some socks have interesting designs or show off wealth. Some of them cost like $20 a pair which is a lot for socks. People in highschool and college wanted to show off their nike elite socks. The way to do it was to wear shorts, or wear slides. The slides and socks look came from athletes I think. The athletes wearing specialized shoes, can change into slides which are more comfortable, and not have to take their socks off.
A lot of people are mindless and brainless, and will do anything a celebrity does, or do anything a celebrity asks them to do. So a natural consequence of that is copying the dress style or lifestyle or mannerisms of a celebrity.
The socks with slide in flipflops do look cleaner and more stylish than plain flipflops with the toes showing.
I don’t think people wearing them in school or after sporting events would have them as go to footwear in vegas.
Just an FYI - the My Pillow guy is having a sale on his sandals/slippers!
