Papi raised the excellent point of needing something else to do when not occupied with ITC activities. So, assuming you are limited to US domestic locations, what towns/cities have good clubs AND other things to do?

Myrtle Beach - Golf during the day (if you are into that) but clubs are a shell of their old selves.
PHX - Anything beside golf during the day?
COI - good clubs but what else to do?
Detroit - good clubs but what else is there?
Las Vegas - Gambling ain't my thing.

Any suggestions? thanks.

This is a very good point. I love Tijuana. But I get bored sitting in the hotel room. Probable because I'm scared to go cruising around the rest of the city in fear for my life.

I"m gonna say Miami should be on the list. They have the beaches. The weather is always warm. They do have casinos. Wonderful outdoor restaurant areas. And even outside of the clubs, the women walk around almost naked.

Louisville during Derby Festival or the KY State Fair. Other times of year, there's still plenty to do, just not as high profile. The Bardstown Road area, and the section of downtown the marketing types call "NuLu" has some really nice places to eat. And of course, there's always the whisky tours, most of which are not actually in Louisville.

Miami -- Golf, beaches, great live music scene, pro sports, there's a lot to like.
Tampa -- More golf, pro sports, easy access to a variety of theme parks (if you can stomach driving on I-4). Surprisingly good craft beer scene.

Detroit Zoological Park - a truly great zoo.

The Ford museum in Dearborn

The Casino, if you're into that

To answer your question about the City of Industry (COI Spearmint Rhino) and the Los Angeles County, the most populous county in the United States and in the U.S. state of California.

* 20 minutes to downtown Los Angeles, Staples Center and the Ontario Airport;
* 25 minutes to Union Station and Dodger Stadium, home of the Los Angeles Dodgers;
* 30 minutes to Knott's Berry Farm, Santa Anita Racetrack, Disneyland, USC and the Los Angeles Coliseum;
* 35 minutes to Pasadena, the Rose Bowl, and Burbank Airport;
* 40 minutes to the Hollywood Bowl, John Wayne Airport, and the beaches of Orange County;
* 45 minutes to Beverly Hills and Universal Studios;
* 50 minutes to LAX, UCLA, and the beaches of Los Angeles County;
* 1 hour and 15 minutes to Palm Springs;
* 1 hour and 46 minutes to the San Diego Zoo;
* 2 hours and 15 minutes to the Happiest Place on Earth (according to Krusty) TJ

PreCOVID Detroit was my preferred choice because of the abundance of local poker rooms and casinos - to play poker in. I called it the Vegas if the Midwest based solely for that reason. Since COVID several of those poker rooms and strip clubs have shut down but there’s still a few and news ones have been added here and there.

With fall coming some destinations will have college sports and professional sports available.

Providence. Not only does it have one of the best clubs in the country and a couple of others where fun can be found, but it has an utterly fantastic food scene. What many of you consider good restaurant food is dog chow compared to what can easily be found there. It also isn't far from good beaches, though soon it will cool down too much for that to be a realistic option. It is also a 45 minute train ride from Boston (or 80 minutes if you take the cheaper commuter train instead of Amtrak), with tons of historical exploring to be done.

Stay in San Diego when you go to Tijuana.
South Florida for clubs and beaches.

In Atlanta you can see where Follies used to be. It's a restaurant/bar now called Batsi.

I like having cultural things like museums, concert venues and historical locations; The D is great for that. I mainly base my preference on the Three "G's".. Golf, Girls and Gambling. Not many places you can have a variety of all three in decent proximity at a reasonable cost. I may be geographically biased but, my #1 is Detroit and if I can include Canada the GTA is pretty damn good too.

Let me put it another way re: Providence. It has some of the best elements of Boston, but is much more down to earth. I like it there so much that if I was single with no kids, I'd seriously consider buying an apartment or condo within walking distance of the Amtrak station. Then I'd be centrally located to all the great food, clubs and other entertainment and also have easy access to Boston and NYC via train.

It also wouldn't hurt that the people there sound a lot more like me than they do here. 😉

Mr. Dugan is right about Providence. It is a killer food city. World class Italian, Portuguese and Seafood. They also have local foods like Saugy dogs, Quahogs and coffee milk. If you like baseball, 40 minutes north are the WooSox and Polar Park is the finest and most expensive minor league ballpark in the country. There is also incredible public golf all over the area and casinos. Train to Boston as well.

^ Don't forget very close to Foxborough, where the Pats play. Seriously if I lived in Providence I'd be like a pig in shit.

The Olneyville NY Station hotdog “special” Providence is like a typical visit to Mickey’s. Just No!
